Try doing 18 holes at Merion with a starter club and standard balls. The driver can't possibly make the fairway on many of the holes. I challenge even the very best player to stay below par.
Many players are good when they have the right balls and equipment, it's WGT's incentive to get people to part with their money. Of course in the real world there's a bit more to it than moving/clicking a mouse, so of course you don't see -10.
There's no point trying to compare it with real golf or suggesting a change to the game to make it less forgiving, it's not real, it's a game and is meant to be fun and challenging at the same time.
There can always be improvements (you'll see plenty of suggestions in the other threads under 'Product Suggestions') but they should be tangible ideas that developers can work with.
