keidan: Hi, when I get an e-mail from WGT titled "get your prize..." it is usually in the form of "credits won", not $. So maybe you just need to divide by 100 to get correct dollar amount.
Agree to the former statement - it's "credits won".
Disagree to the latter - credits have no conversion rate because, according to the T&Cs, "Credits have not monetary value."
Furthermore, there are "you have won..." pop-up windows which indicate your winnings with a factor of 100, making mountains (512 cr) out of molehills (5.12 cr).
greenbox: There are players with thousands of
dollars in career earnings. If that cannot be converted into actual
cash, then what is the purpose?
What can the purpose be if the front page of this site states "You can win 80,000 $ here!" while the better part of this are mere software licences called "credits"?
(A handful of players receive real money's worth, e.g. from invitations to the US Open)
T&C truth is, these credit licences stay property of the company.
greenbox: That amount is more than enough to get the best clubs and balls. That
means some people have thousands of "dollars" worth of equipment and
balls?
It's a fun game but I am not really seeing the ultimate incentive.
I guess it's to feel good about yourself.
Some players even have enough to spend it on the Golden Putter ;)
The only way to extract money's worth is "Gift Cards" in the Elite section of the Pro Shop with a very disadvantageous exchange rate for the players.
And yes, the best incentive is to have fun with the game, to enjoy the views and the Tiger-like shots as well as virtual camaraderie and friendship.
