Before I start this post I know I will get some negative comments back but any point of veiw would still be helpful.  When I was reading a golf digest issue, it stated Kiawah Island as the hardest golf course in the world! However in my opionon, on this game it's the easiest.  Now here's some facts to back it up.

WGT course stats (from master tee's)

    • Kiawah Island 72.0/134
    • St. Andrew's 72.1/129
    • Bethpage Black 75.4/144
    • Oakmont 76.4/142

Now I placed these in order from easiest to hardest according to USGA guidlines.  So my Idea is that WGT should make Kiawah play harder.  I know what some of you are thinking and some might agree, but facts are facts and if in real life Kiawah is the hardest of the four courses so why not make it the hardest here on WGT?

Well, for me King, the front 9 at Kiawah isn't so easy. I play the back 9 a lot better than the front that's for sure. Hole 4 and 5 are still testing me, even after 1000 ranked rounds. I suppose it's all-up to the players ability to play Kiawah, that determines it's difficulty. You either play that course good, or the round turns into an utter train wreck after the first three holes. I sometimes play the back 9 at Bethpage better than the front 9 of Kiawah. I do like the Kiawah course best, and wouldn't mind seeing WGT add some yardage to it.

    Interesting statistics King.  : )

Remember we are playing 98% of these holes with the same pin placement everyday. Change the pins each week and see how easy they are. Just a thought.

whoever said Kiawah was tougher than Oakmont never interviewed anyone who has played both - same for Bethpage, again tougher than Kiawah

I don't get why the USGA gave Kiawah a higher course rating than Oakmont either... to me it looks like a hard SLOPE course (ie: tough for an average golfer) because you frequently have to carry obsticles, but it just doesn't seem hard for a scratch golfer, which is what USGA gives course ratings out based on.

    TOURNAMENT

    144/77.3     7356 YARDS

     OCEAN

    138/73.6     6744 YARDS

    DYE

    134/72.0     6475 YARDS   (Master tees)

These are the scorecard slopes and ratings..I have played there . With the wind, at

times, most players can't even reach some of the front (Ocean/Dye) tees.

    Hey Richard,

They will in future be adding yardage to Kiawah, I believe the tournament tees are already in , but obviously not in the game play right now. Have a look at the hole maps while you are playing - there is an extra tee there approx 20 - 30 yds further back.

But Kiawah will be longer, and much tougher. Like you, I like the back 9 more, but if todays round is anything to go bye - after bogeying 17, & 18 -  I'm not so sure lol.

    Cheers

    Doug

Scorecards and a friend on WGT who plays there alot.  (using the term friend since I am not sure if he would like to be mentioned).

I have played Both Bethpage Black and Oakmont, also I don't agree but the USGA states that the course with the highest slope is Kiawah Island and that makes it the hardest golf course in the world.
