I recently got to Legend tier, and am level 80. I am using the L48 R1 and L41 R11s 3W. I am doing decently enough with both of these. I should be hitting level 81 at some point in the next several days, so I am curious if it would be worth grabbing the L81 G20 Driver and 3W.

I love the forgiveness with both of my clubs. I miss the ding more than I hit it, but I still typically get close enough that the damage from missing it is not catastrophic (usually, lol... you should see some of my oopsies). I rented some other drivers during the last free rental weekend, and some drivers were too crazy for me; the L50 Nike Covert is a notable one, as when I would miss the ding, it could end up off in cornfields, another fairway, on a passing golf cart, etc. I love the precision of my R11s 3W, and, once again, the forgiveness has saved me.

L94 R11s Driver is a long way off, as is the L95 R11s 3W. The R11 Driver and 3W between have less forgiveness than the G20s. With all of that information, would the G20 Driver and 3W be worth the credits? Will I get that much more yardage out of both, especially the G20 driver vs the R1 (I regularly drive 280-310 with it)? The R11s 3W will stick after a hop, maybe two, with fbs on a full shot many times; how does the G20 3W compare? I bought the L69 Rocketballz 3W for the yardage, but it does not stick like the R11s, nor does it have the same precision.

    Thanks!

nikki (sorry for the overly long post)

Never had the R1 but sounds a bomb.  All I can say here is that the G20 is rated higher yardage and will hold no surprises with what's advertised. I do note that your average driving distance is 285 yards, and unless you play Merion all the time the G20 is easily capable of moving that up ................I don't know how much you have been usually opening up / wanting to at the TM tees that thing :) /  will choose to etc. but that's the headline!

In to the wind the G20 can also penetrate well with top spin.  If you can play the L79 Bladez I can't see how the forgiving G20 would be anything other than a breeze................Personally I use the L88 R11 these days appreciating it's usually longer distance, but fine lines and it's lack of awful lack of forgiveness / slight inability in real headwinds make it a love hate relationship! The G20 in question is a class act, and I only just ditched it for the R11...........

L69 Rballz is not  as accurate as the HL G20 which is it's major drawback.  Personally I prefer the L85 R11 3 wood as it sticks better than the G20 but the G20 will hold it's line slightly better...both class acts though and way above the L69 Rocket...........

Iron wise you have the second best scoring iron's available - 2nd ONLY to the L90 R11s

All I can input .............hope it helps

    Short anwsers:

Driver : not really, the 48+ R1 is basically only weaker with tailwind.

3wood : Yes, I think the 81 g20 3w is well worth it and a solid upgrade from your 41+ R11s, you'll need those extra yrds on many holes and on all of those very long par 3's, especially with headwind.

p.s. the g20 3w sticks good, has very good precision, pretty slow meter and good forgiveness.

I propose to buy the full G20 set, available at level 83. It's high end clubs with uniform meter speed.

    Some approx. numbers on levels:

    81   222.000 XPs

    83   255.000 XPs

    90   487.000 XPs

I'd go the exact opposite. I've been using the level 80+ G20's since I was able to purchase them, before that I was using the level 59+ G20's.

The driver is excellent, miss the ding and you're still on the fairway, strong headwinds and it will still break 280 yards (I do use the L71 Nikes though).

The 3 wood is the most inaccurate club in my bag, miss the ding slightly and you have no idea if its going to go right, left or on target.

They're great clubs with a nice meter and good forgiveness. I was sorry to give them up.

I guess we must be living in some kind of parallel universe then, the g20 3wood was very forgiving and held the line perfectly (compared to that pile of crap 85+ R11 3wood).

Also, I rented the lvl 83+ g20 irons for a day for 405cr and they are flat out pathetic, compared to the rocketbladez atleast, but I'm sure you'll tell me/us that they are awesome too.

The meter is almost the same as the RBZ's, lower loft, less spin, less distance and forgiveness is also just as bad on both sets.

But sure, 'to each his own', everyone can probably adjust, but why bother? If you use 170 with backspin, the g20 iron only goes ~163 (no wind/elevation), seems like many have kinda 'accepted' that and adjusted, lol.

Certainly agree on the parallel universe.  The R11 3 wood out perform's the G20 every day for me, just because it sticks better - higher trajectory!

I simply can't go that far.  The G20s are good but agreed the L79 Bladez out perform BUT ONLY IF you are OK with the faster meter than the G20s.  Also miss the ding with the wind with those Bladez and it's tear's.  I personally would choose the Bladez every day though, and preferred them to the G20 set for "stickability" on long approaches / 3 iron length but hated the lack of forgiveness compared to the G20s !

You don't mince your word's and fully entitled not to, but I just don't fully agree on all your finding's and wanted to bring some balance! Agreed to each their own though:)

Why be patronising just because someone has a differing opinion?

You accept what you have, if the shot if front of me is 163 yards then I have the perfect club!
