I have the G20 Driver and Wood. Both are very good and the forgiveness is pretty good. As long as it you get it pretty close to the ding you will always hit the fairway and both play a bit longer than stated compared to the lower end G20s.

I go tot Legend at 71 and really struggled - had the lower level G20s - just 270 yrd driver and 230yrd wood making some fairways impossible to hit.

Holes like #17 ST A with headwind I had to lay up on the left. My current driver is no problem, sails over the building - it definitely plays more than 10 yards longer than the 270 yard one.

The R1 is 275 yards, that is probably just enough on the Legend tee (dunno if it plays exactly that length) it's also very forgiving. Same for the wood.

If they had been available when I hit Legend i would have gone with those. I would reccomend you stick with them unless you are sometimes not reaching the fairway regularly enough (due to length).

If you do stick you may think "oh if only I had a few more yards I could have reach that P5 green in 2" however, the vast majority P5s are only reachable in 3 from the Legend tee without a favourable tailwind and even if you were to reach it in 2 the chances of having an easy eagle putt are slim. At least with the R1 you are almost always on the fairway with just a dinged wedge to be on the pin for an easy birdie.

With a very high headwind u might not reach the fairway - but I would imagine that will be very rare and it still does happen even with the G20 280yrd driver once in a blue moon.

    Thanks for the replies! :)

Though I have only been at Legend tier for a few days, I have begun going through each course, nine holes at a time, and while I could definitely benefit from a longer driver and 3W, I would hate to sacrifice the precision and "stickability" I feel I have with my R11s 3W.

That L48 R1 was ridiculous the first week it was released. I bought it the first day, and encouraged two friends to buy one as well. We had a blast, trying ridiculous drives, playing with spin and discovering that it was simply "just get under it, it will fly." IMO, it has changed over time, with distance being reduced slightly, and spin choice playing a part (it used to get better yardage getting under it into a headwind versus putting top on it... go figure). Unless the headwind is more than about 17mph, I can typically get 285yds out of it. Sidewind, and 290yds is there, and with a tailwind, 300+. So, I would rather wait for a driver that will regularly give me a good 10yds+ more. Will that L81 G20 do that? Has anyone gone from the L48 R1 to it?

That L69 3W was a blast at first. The extra yardage was wild. But, so were the results. Went back to my R11s, but every so often I would load the Rocketballz up and give it another chance. When I played the Virtual Open, I quit after the 3rd hole to swap my R11s 3W for the L69 Rocketballz 3W. I was still Tour Master, and had not played from the Champion tees. Hole 3 with a headwind means choosing to choke up and roll the dice with the R1, or swap in the Rocketballz just to be sure I can conquer hole 3 IF I get a headwind. Blend the L41 R11s 3W with the Rocketballz solely for the added yards and I am sold. L81 G20 3W? Or continue to wait?

I love the Rocketbladez L79 irons. I have paid the price for missing the ding, but I am getting better. The L90 R11 irons are my goal clubs, and the Bladez seem to be a good prep for that meter experience. I love my Cleveland wedges (upper level 56, 60, and 64), and the meter speed is the same for irons and wedges for me now. Disparity between driver/3W and irons/wedges does not matter to me; I prefer irons and wedges matching to driver/3W/irons matching (oddly enough? am I alone there?). I am just trying to spend wisely now, especially seeing as the prices are higher, the trek from level to level is much longer, and the selections become scarcer and scarcer. I am not looking to spend like that for a few yards. 10+yds each would be worth it... I think...

    thanks again!
