why can you not gift your old equipment?

  Is Trixie your wife? If she is, she is a level 7 and the only clubs you can buy as a gift for her are clubs that are level 7 or below. And they have to be new clubs that go to her, or any friend, directly from the pro shop to the recipient.  Also, since you are level 36 you cannot gift anything that you cannot purchase for yourself. In other words if you want to purchase an iron set for someone who is level 85, the only things available for you to gift are level 36 and lower.

  Not true.

  Only the level of the receiver is relevant, a general limitation being that you can't gift tiered equipment from Master(?) tier up. Also, only Pros and up can gift items.
