    Doublemochaman:

Is there any cigar smoke wafting about in that rarefied air?

A bit of a Marlboro light over here;)

Honestly all, I've no complaints about the slow greens, I tried to get them figured out before I started...plus my CC sets a few "random" conditions where I see them quite often enough...I could have practiced till 2 hours before closing and I don't think I'd have played it differently...heck...I constantly come up short on Champ Greens as well!

A bit, yes, and maybe even a whiff of whacky tobbacky here and there...

Missed qualifying by one shot, but I'll tell ya something...Merion and the many rounds I played trying to qualify made me a better player.  It toughens you up.  Our CC is having a "US Open" tourney.  First round is with Slow greens.  I single-played it today like it was the "real" open and was proud of my 59.  Looking forward to round 2 on the ice. :)  And I'll tell ya what, if I'd had the R1 for the last 2 months, I am Positive I would have shot 55 or 56 in qualifying.  That driver is worth about 2 shots a round ( if you can putt ).

Best of luck to ALL you guys and gals!   You're all great!

Well.......even whacky tobbacky and all..........AHH. No excuses, 63 is all i could put up. Practiced a bit on slow greens before round, did not help.

    Left everything short, everything...lol.

Little tip for everyone that did not play yet. On most of the holes that you get downhiller, DO NOT play for the down hill, hit it HARD!  Lmao.

I do think the greens are actually slower than slow. Hey i enjoyed it none the less. I wish both rounds would have been high winds and champ greens, but i still enjoyed qualifying and getting to play against the best here.

Good luck to all players! Go gettem!

eff those greens, i had 7 lipouts, mostly from 5-10 ft, the greens resembled fast speed, took me 9 holes to figure it out

Slow greens add 3ft to flat and uphill putts.

Downhill puts 1/4 the break and whack it in the middle of the cup.

Shame i didn't qualify i like slow greens

Totally agree with this. Slow greens take an age to get used to.

#12 - 8ft putt 4 inches downhill. Gave it enough for 7 ft of power, came up a foot short.

Missed birdie on #2 cos didn't hit it hard enough to nullify some of break.

    Only parred #12 and #13.

Apart from that, I was happy enough with my 60.

Slow greens nice touch !! Shot 63 I have no complaints.

Cream will rise to the top and same conditions for everyone.

I should have read this thread more carefully before I posted my score.  It was only when I was on the 1st green i noticed SLOW GREEN SPEED :) Hadnt played on slow greens since my 1st week on WGT...

Panic stations then and I scrolled forums for slow green speed advice. Armed with the knowledge that slow green speed is about 20% slower than normal I continued on my quest.

As a result I was uncertain with all my putts.  I am a dead weight putter and this just threw me completely.  Would have been same on championship greens. Left some short, others way long, missed 6ft straight putt on 18 for par, missed birdie 4ft on par 3 13th (left it short).  Just not good enough this time round.

    Birdied 1, 2, 4, 8, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, & 17

    Par 5, 6, 9, 12 & 13.

    Bogeyed 3, 7 & 18.

I choose not to read this thread as I didnt want it to distract me from my game (that was wise).  I dont think I would have posted much better had I known green speed in advance anyway.

Happy hitting guys, and dont forget to have fun !!
