Just a few rounds away now, should be in the Pro Shop before it closes tomorrow night.

A very BIG thank you to all who have posted here, with your encouraging words, and a special thank you to Joe for his humour and dedication to the task, it helped me enormously

I shall go lick my balls now, just because I can, or should I be dusting off my Nikes.

    Cheers evreyone

    M

Nice going, I'll play it on Saturday, week 30 that is.

Joe, everyone you must see this - as you know I have been relentlessly playing my CC comp 18 hole Par 3's on standard and slow greens, which I do believe make it harder to get Holes in One.

    HIO right here

This is the Nation tourney which has "championship greens" and I was using a Srixon ball.

    What a corker !

Very Nice....thats where to hit it at that hole for sure...I agree that slow and standard greens dont give you enough roll to make HIOs and also the starter ball will not stop.....

Just to let you know Martin, the club is bombing, but so is my game...gonna take awhile to get dialed in for sure...

Not the driver, its doing more than fine...its the rest of the bag thats lagging =P

    worth it for sure also

    Thanks.

Glad to see you're enjoying it,

On Saturday I'm going to play every Par 3 with starter balls and tee off with the R1 - payback time.

What a shame you can't smash windows and clobber the clubhouse with overhit and misdirected drives.

I am going to be a pain in the butt now, as I am having second thoughts for this reason.

In the last few months I have bought the following :-

    •     Top level Nike Putter
    •     Full club set of G20's
    •     RockBladez Irons
    •     R11 irons
    •     3 Top level Cleve wedges
    •     New avatar
    •     New bag

        Balls too many to calculate

So that all adds up to over 20,000 credits, and now I am close to spending 3,500 credits more for a driver that is marginally better than my G20.

I just need re-affirmation guys, as it would be churlish after all this effort not to take advantage of a club that will be over a year away in the normal run of things.

    Well in my opinion,

I rented it on the free weekend and could not believe how easy it was to hit.

Got my first ever low score of 30 on Bethpage because of it. Less shots to the green.

    And the forgiveness is unreal!

You could aim for the concession stand and still be on the fairway ...lol

I tried to intentionally miss ding by a nice margin and it just seemed to find the fairway anyway. I mean you really have to mishit for it to be way off.

At the level just building up the costs. Many videos and surveys and I will just split the cost in half or darn near it.

Well I guess my opinion counted as well........ :)

mutts, you've worked too hard to have second thoughts now...go ahead and get the R1 and enjoy driving.  It's more than marginally better than the G20, it's a friggin' forgiving cannon.

Once you get it, be sure to experiment with variations of backspin and topspin...did I mention it's also a very versatile cannon?  Oh, and this sucker punches 250, which is also very useful in windy conditions and on tree-lined holes like the ones found at Oly.

This thread has been a great read, following the quest for a club that is indeed worth the effort you guys have put in.

Mark lied, the driver is a pig...280 max, ya getting shafted.

FFS, should have stuck with the Starter driver, effing Mark is a WGT employee, and gets a commission on sales...trust me, I know this....
