I recently advanced from Tour Pro to Master, but my game has slipped dramatically.  I don't feel like a master at all, as my average score has escalated from low/mid 60s to mid 70s.

The big changes I've noticed are teeing off from the harder tees, which hasn't been a big issue since I upgraded to a driver with more distance and my putting, which used to be a strength, but is now by far the worst part of my game.

I've gone from consistently being able to make mid to long putts to consistently missing from inside of 10ft.  It seems like my aim has changed.  What used to be the release spot for a certain break in the green is not the spot anymore and I'm struggling to find it.  I've completely lost confidence in what used to be the strongest part of my game and it is frustrating me to no end; especially because I'm missing by the smallest of margins.

Is this normal?  I keep thinking that I'll figure it out eventually if I keep playing, but I've played approx. 20 rounds or so since advancing and my scores aren't getting any lower.  I appreciate any insight.  Thanks

Moving to the Master tier is the hardest tier advancement .. many will tell you the same

just stick to it, your game will improve again and you'll be a better player .. also remember that you'll have longer shots into the green and your puts become harder as the green become faster, which means putting a little softer resulting in more break .. u'll get the hang of it

Those medium trajectory irons are killing you. The g 20's at lvl 58 are very good for master and tour master. Or wait until the lvl 79 irons. Also check out sgtbilko putter scale  in the forums or my home page.  This will help with putting speed and length. Happy Golfing.

If you think the game gets harder when you move up to Master,...just wait until you go from Tour Master to Legend,...which I recently did;....and 5 days and about 25 ranked rounds later, I'm wondering if I'll ever learn hoe to play this game again.

It seems the putting has become most difficult...added to the fact that now hitting from the back tees.....the wind is generally now 19-20 mph in the face....and as an example..every time I play #9 at St Andrews.....driving the green is impossible, even though my driver is rated at 280 yds. (G20 level 81).

All my Legend friends tell me it's happened to them as well,..but I must say it's quite frustrating,...and I now know for a fact that WGT can actually control your game....because some real strange things have occurred during game play....rather UN-realistic if I may say so....Hopefully both you and I will regain some confidence, and start to again enjoy the game,....Hang in there,...but don't dangle too long!!!

The g20 irons at vlv 58 are very good and will last you until legend or you could wait until lvl 79 and get the rocketbladez. Both are high trajectory irons and also have better spin.

Maruschak, if you can afford it the rll irons are worth getting. The 3,4 and 5 irons are very necessary at the legend tier. They have a great deal more stopping power. You can also get the new rl driver at lvl 93. It will make a 3 iron approach turn into a 5 iron approach compared to the g 20 driver you have now. Also you could use another cleveland wedge to replace the starter. These are only suggestion's and totally depends on spendable income. Have fun playing from the parking lot. These things will make the game a little easier. If you get the r11 irons hit me up and I will get you the yardages with the nikes.

Your Legend friends are correct.  You will get the hang of it over time. When i jumped to legend it took me 3 or 4 weeks to figure things out.  This goes to the original post as well as maru.  every tier from master up you get a new default green speed. As someone said before when the green speed gets faster the ball is actually moving slower because with a faster green speed the ball travels further. With the ball moving slower it is more susceptible to the breaks as well as the up and down hill slopes.  You might have a 7 foot severe downhill putt that moves 2 or 3 feet.

Maru you are correct, teeing off from the tips means less drivable par 4s, but there are still a fair amount of them that under the right conditions it is possible.  Focus your effort more on getting a complete set of 3 wedges that you feel very comfortable with.  Learn them inside and out. I have the L81 G20 driver and I do fine with it.  I think you will find that you will get your eagle opportunities from the reachable par 5s and from your approach and wedge shots. You'll see that alot of the good player get eagles from holed approach shots and you can create really good scoring chances around the greens and inside 100 yards with good wedge play using all of the different shots and also minimize bogeys by scrambling well

So to both the OP and maru, just stick with it it does get better and is worth it

On a side note, I just turned level 90 and got the r11s and I frickin love the 3 and 4 iron, they are awesome clubs and more than make up for the wacky 8 iron.  Actually considering driving shorter just so I can use them more.

Glad to know I'm not the only one. Putting has been my biggest challenge as well,  Just when I got used to reading the breaks of the greens, it all changed and now putts that used to fall are missing.  Not by much, but just enough to frustrate the hell out of me.  It makes me wonder how some people can shoot in the 50s.

I hear ya.  The exact same thing is happening to me and I swear the game is out to get me.  Especially when I hit a putt I think is perfect and it rolls a fraction of an inch past the hole at the last second.  That one really grinds my gears!

I've actually got a pretty good handle on the green speeds.  Reading the breaks is what's killing me.  It seems my aim spots have totally changed from where they used to be.
