So I have created what I think is a pretty solid formula for judging winds at an angle (SIDE TO SIDE).. Problem is it all goes to waste after the first tee because I have realized that there is no way to judge how many yards you are moving the arrow over.

So if it calculates to move the arrow 5 yards to the right I have no way of knowing what 5 yards is.

I heard on here that u can base side distance off the flagstick which is roughly 7ft.. But this is incorrect because if I change my view it should calculate out to the same spot when it is al said and done. But it doesn't. Forward view and back view always end up with different measurements.

Also someone said to use the blue box as a judge as long as it isn't zoomed In. But that seems to change with every hole as well...

Am I missing something here or do I have it all covered? Any help would be nice!

From driver almost all the way down to 9 iron, the width of the info box (showing your swing target distance and elevation) as seen from the avatar view is just about equal to 10 mph of crosswind (5 mph if you go from the edge to the pointer), regardless of distance to the hole. The reason is, the size of the box doesn't change on the screen, so the farther you are away from it, the wider it is in relation to the game terrain near it. There is some variation to this; for example there may be slight adjustments needed depending on whether your clubs are medium, med/high, or high trajectory. Also, under about 150 yds it starts to break down and you need to reduce the adjustment more and more the closer you get to the hole.

Practice, then after a while you get a feel for how much the winds will affect your shot. As for the person above, if his method is so good, why is his GIR so low?

Wow, that remark was arrogant! Maybe he has 2 jobs, maybe he has classes, or only has time to play an hour or so a day and can't live on here like someone else does, he was just trying to help the guy/gal...whatever the reason, good stats on wgt means what exactly,  gives one the right to flame anyone for trying to help! What is really shocking is you went to the trouble of looking at his stats just to blast him....OH, the box does work fairly well but feel works better for me too!

Nobody blasted anyone and nobody flamed anyone.. I asked a question. :-) It's always a good idea to check the stats of advice givers just to see if they practice what they preach. I gave advice too.

UH HUH, sure! The method he mentioned has been posted by players with stats you would find acceptable I'm sure, all he did was pass it on like many others have, next time he will probably remain mute and let someone worthy of passing on 5 yr old info do it...

    Hi,

Not sure if this will help but I have a clear ruler that I use (in millimetres) I know how much to allow for each club with fbs and with neutral spin in mm. It may be an idea to work out your wind effect in inches or 1/4 inches etc. I will add that the same mm cannot apply to each club as each has its own loft and will be affected differently by the wind so I have it mapped for each club.

I basically put my ruler up to the screen with the 0 on the pin and move the aimer the relevant mm left or right, it used to be true that the "blue box" at 10mph was fairly accurate but imo that is no longer the case.

To avoid any zoom issues, I do this all from the golfer view and it is fairly accurate for my set-up.

As an example, if I am using my 105yd ping wedge with fbs, I multiply the wind by 1.65, so a 10 mph wind, I would aim 16,5 mm rt or left, this also allows for the sideways hop u will get on landing in the same direction the wind is blowing, my cleveland wedge with neutral spin I multiply wind by 1.3 so in the same scenario I would aim 13mm left or right.

    Hope this helps,

    Peace,

    Liz
