WeidaDeNei:
So I have created what I think is a pretty solid formula for judging winds at an angle (SIDE TO SIDE).. Problem is it all goes to waste after the first tee because I have realized that there is no way to judge how many yards you are moving the arrow over.
So if it calculates to move the arrow 5 yards to the right I have no way of knowing what 5 yards is.
I heard on here that u can base side distance off the flagstick which is roughly 7ft.. But this is incorrect because if I change my view it should calculate out to the same spot when it is al said and done. But it doesn't. Forward view and back view always end up with different measurements.
Also someone said to use the blue box as a judge as long as it isn't zoomed In. But that seems to change with every hole as well...
Am I missing something here or do I have it all covered? Any help would be nice!
Hi,
Not sure if this will help but I have a clear ruler that I use (in millimetres) I know how much to allow for each club with fbs and with neutral spin in mm. It may be an idea to work out your wind effect in inches or 1/4 inches etc. I will add that the same mm cannot apply to each club as each has its own loft and will be affected differently by the wind so I have it mapped for each club.
I basically put my ruler up to the screen with the 0 on the pin and move the aimer the relevant mm left or right, it used to be true that the "blue box" at 10mph was fairly accurate but imo that is no longer the case.
To avoid any zoom issues, I do this all from the golfer view and it is fairly accurate for my set-up.
As an example, if I am using my 105yd ping wedge with fbs, I multiply the wind by 1.65, so a 10 mph wind, I would aim 16,5 mm rt or left, this also allows for the sideways hop u will get on landing in the same direction the wind is blowing, my cleveland wedge with neutral spin I multiply wind by 1.3 so in the same scenario I would aim 13mm left or right.
Hope this helps,
Peace,
Liz
