While Courtney is correct that intentionally staying at the same rank on purpose is sandbagging, there are ways to do it properly.

I would suggest to any player that they play the full spectrum of courses to get a true average.  Even if you don't like Olympic or Beth Page, play them equally with Kiawah and STA so that your average is a true average.

I've played with far too many Legends who got there by playing nothing but Kiawah and STA where the tees are much shorter from the master tees.  Once they move back they can't play any courses, since now Kiawah is as long as anything as is STA.  In fact in my opinion BPB becomes one of the easier courses as a Legend.

Just my opinion of course but if you play all the courses with a variety of conditions, when you get to the Legend tier you will be a better player and more ready for the challenges that are put before you.

    Rooster2821:

I am close to Master tier and now that I have a 275 yard driver. Should i stay at Tour Pro awhile and hone my skills some more or, just take the jump and start getting use to the different tee's My driving is pretty good, my iron work is ok, but needs improvement, my short game around the green saves my butt alot since my "GIR" is kinda bad, my putting is coming along. So any advice from a Master or above would be appreciated. Thank You in advance.

Oh, and just to add. I use the starter ball and am gonna stick with them so i do not go broke buying balls.

Make the move . Once you move up , then you can hang out , by playing stroke play practice rounds . Stroke play is where you truly work on your game , and learn along the way . Also , you do need to upgrade your ball , to a better ball . You will not get the full benefit of your clubs , with the starter ball . You can do the videos , and surveys , to get the balls , to better your game. Back off from the A/S , and focus more on learning the game , ball placement , and developing a better game . The scores and avg. , will not matter , until you reach Tour Legend . Until then , it will always be changing . So play well , have fun , and good luck . Happy Swinging :-)

Thanks for all your help guys. I have been playing in a/s matches just to get use to the longer driver. Strange thing is, some holes are harder now with the longer driver. So what i dont want to do is get use to the holes with the new driver, then have to do it again when i turn Master. So I think i am just going to take the jump to Master level. I do not care about my average to the point where i am gonna quit rounds if they are going bad. I was just wondering if jumping up to Master would be easier to learn the holes instead of learning them twice. The starter balls have gotten me this far and i am gonna stick with them till i hit a brick wall with them and that is where i will stay.  I have been playing all the courses so i get a good measure of my skill i guess you could say. I also have been playing a lot of rounds just to level up to the better equipment.  I think once i get to Master tier i will settle in and work more on my "GIR".  I have read a lot of the forums picking up tips on the game and that has helped.  So I will keep plugging away at the game, have fun and stay out of the rough (which i seem to be in alot).

Master is a big jump - enjoy the challenge:)

Never quit, just take the XP.  In the end it's saturated and bad scores are simply hoofed out. Some do seem to care SO much about it even playing the same couple courses, just to keep it in check.

EDIT - Personally I would like to see WGT do it by course, no headline average to stop the nonsense, and then also over the last say 50 rounds for Ls/TLs once saturated.  On the list of things to do it's way down there though LOL.

Back to the point it's obviously all your choice.  All I would say is think particularly before you jump to Legend early as that seems a particular area of concern for many......Anyway good advice through out the thread.....

    Now your choices:)

    Cheers

Forget the game .It becomes a royal pain when u reach the Master level anyway. Unlike real golf in WGT  you get worse as you get better. Don't believe the WGT lackeys, though. They would have you think that the game is random. What a joke. Then how come EVERY time I hit an approach shot to #4 and #5 on BP it ends up in the trap in front of the green. It's ridiculous. Also, don't question anything: I have made post  after post about some of the overpriced clubs. But they're never published. I have made innumerable inquiries about the stealthy, big-brother camera that spies on everyone-- and make u miss shot s that are  obviously easy. Never addressed. The game is seriously manipulated -- can't be believe how many credits I have not been credited for, despite spending HOURS  on surveys. The worst thing is: Each 9 hole round I play I have at least 2 birdie putts that stop exactly .2 ft short!! WHAT!? Come on, WGTl play fair.

Not gonna play any ranked rounds for a few days. I want to enjoy the 66.92 average for a few days :-)

    Congrats!

Welcome to the Master tier, have fun and don't worry about your average(nice), as it will take care of itself after you play the required amount of ranked rounds for saturation.

    See ya on the greens....

Perhaps you should consider upgrading to the Bladez irons instead of the irons you are using. Yes, the precision on those irons really does make a difference and there is far less deviation (unless of course, you miss the ding)

as for your putts, maybe consider hitting each putt to go 2 feet past the hole, then you won't have an issue with leaving them short

At level 52 I might as well just wait and get the level 59 G20"s. Most people on the forums say they are good irons. Coming up short is not an issue. I got distance dialed in pretty good and putt for 1-2 feet past the hole. problem is if i dont ding it, i run by the edge alot.

Coming up short ALL the time on Bethpage 4+5, and birdie putts that always come up short? I am thinking............hit them harder maybe? I would have to imagine there is some sort of deviation built into the game for balance reasons, most on-line games do have that. In the end, its just a game. Enjoy it, win or lose
