Yep. #5 at Bethpage.  It is uphill, but not sloped much. Anyway, I haven't found much consistency in playing greens that are elevated a few feet or down a few feet. In real golf I will always add 1 club approaching an elevated green; and take one less when shooting down to a green. That said, whenever I have chosen one less club to a down WGT green that axiom doesn't seem to apply. At any rate, choosing  club that will clear the bunker by 20 yards should clear the bunker at least once out of 20 tries --especially with no wind.Anyway, it's reassuring to know I am not the only player who can't keep a ball on the green at several of the Bethpage holes. BP #4 and #9 don't hold well either.

Yes. It would help knowing which hole, wouldn't it?  #5 at Bethpage. The slope is minimal, but the green is elevated. However,  with minimal/no wind at least one shot out of 20 should make the green, especially choosing a club that should clear the trap by 20+ yards. #4 and #9 don't hold well either. Anyway, I would like the game better if I knew it was more random.  Btw, I am using Rapture V2 irons that have a med/high trajectory.

Raptures are the prob. You likely will not hold 5 at Bethpage without high loft, high spin irons. Even the L79 Bladez release some with 4 dot spin Nike balls.

However, that combo does turn 15 at Bethpage into an easy birdie from the legend tee and the front pin

I rented the bladez --cost  a lot of $$. I applied as much backspin as possible. The results were negligible. But I sure as heck noticed a difference if i missed the ding by a hair: Wham! Off the green.  I am waiting for the L83 Ping's. They may not be any better as I won't spend more than 180 crdits for balls.

You need to try different shots and take notes on what works. On the 5th I allow for slope and wind then add 4 yards but it'll be different with different clubs and balls.

tried everything. You'd think 20 to 30 times one shot would clear the trap w/ogoing over the green into the rough. Maybe I should use something better than Srixon ZStar's.

That bunker isn't a bad place to be, you can get within a yard of the pin from there. It's easier than a downhill curly putt from the back of the green.

Agreed. But the bunker all but eliminates the chance of a birdie and makes par a great score.

Even easier is IMHO, on BPB #5, to lay up to the FW right-hand. Play short, get a full wedge shot and look forward to an easy tap-in for birdie. Tour Pros should have a chance with Starters, too.

To hold the green with good clubs, you must hit the last foot of the rough (I've been told). Not a good percentage shot IMHO.
