Two years ago I mapped out and screenshotted the winds at STA front nine, saying how ludicrous it was to have a tailwind on #1 and a headwind on #2. It was illogical and not related to real life.

I have played STA many times and the prevailing wind comes off the sea, so my disappointment at having this wind all over the place was the reason for my thread.

That is when I learnt about the inequity of playing WGT tournaments where wind is a factor.

I too have commented on this frequently. It is just ridiculous to have 180degree wind changes in the space of a few minutes. I've been to St Andrews too and yes the wind is often high but it is fairly constant.

Due to my crappy connection (that just got even worse) I don't play with other players so can anyone confirm or deny that when four different people are playing the same hole at the same time (i.e. AS) do all 4 players get the same wind?

I don't care if we are legends or not, any green speed lower than what we normally get is real hard to work with, and cannot just get used to it by only one game. I don't play tourneys all the time. So that would just be ridiculous to change all the time.

Makes more sense to move forward, not backwards.

This is what I'm kinda getting at mate, pros don't play the same green speeds all the time it's who adapts quickest that gets the results. The top players on here play the same shots all the time, if all of a sudden you've got to alter that maybe it'll mix up leaderboards a bit, make it a bit more interesting?

I can think of nothing more boring than just playing the same old, over and over. Variety is the spice of life as the saying goes :)

mmikkeelee - nah, not good enough for those. I'll dabble every now and again but I prefer not to put my credits in strangers pockets ;-)

There's plenty of comps to keep me amused, it was just a thought that's all.

Yes, everyone has the same wind.

    @ Paul

Sorry I pulled your discussion off topic by talking about wind.
