Only by what you've said, i would say he done you a favour. Club members should have rights and if there's a problem, you would like to think that you could approach the club hierarchy.
There's a multitude of respected and well run clubs and some great advice above me.
I've worked my behind off the last couple of months creating what I hope is a club that my members are proud to be associated with. It may be my name above the door but i can assure you, without the support of the members and the team in place at Southern, it'd be a pretty rubbish place to be. I'd hazard a guess that most of the club owners have a lot of respect for their members and that what you've experienced is a very rare occurrence.
Knock on the door of another club, put this incident behind you and carry on enjoying what the game AND a well run country club have to offer.
