When last ball of a kind is taken out of play during round it is automatically replaced by starter balls (no other options available) which can be rather annoying as it may well affect perfomance and score.
I appreciate that in PGA golf you must use the
same ball during a round (which is WGT's rationale for current practice), but since that principle is broken in any case when a
ball is replaced with starter balls mid round, I feel the rationale is not
entirely valid
Well
– having thought about whether I could contribute a constructive suggestion,
how about this for consideration:
When
a ball is due to be taken out, allow the player to complete the round with the
ball in play and then take It out. You could flash a message “this ball will be
taken out of play at completion of this round” – rather than simply removing
it directly. I realize that duration of a particular ball would then vary slightly, but
you could say “so what” – isn’t it more fair to let a player complete the round
with the same ball? Actually you could argue that this would even more closely
resemble PGA rules - and hence provide a perfectly legitimate rationale for such a (new) practice?
