  8 Gold Medals at the Olympics, 22 Gold Medals total won by Michael Phelps...nothing else is even close....and I'm not a swimming fan, only watch it in the Olympics along with Curling!

  With soccer players getting in referees face in every game, displaying very little pride diving every time they get touched, steroid abuse by top players in every sport, dancing around like fools every time they score or make a tackle in american football and basketball, brawling, cheating, a Columbian player murdered for a mistake in the world cup, anytime Lionel Messi plays is great to watch, best ever! Just don't let him wear that suit he wore to receive the "player of the year" award again!

  I had many great thrills   in my 62 years  of sport  watching , but one that stand out ,  let say top 5 for a French Canadian (Quebecois we are)    .  Its Gilles son Jacques  Villeneuve winning the indy 500 , with  two laps down  halfway  in the race then getting a penality  for passing  the pace car ...............  Still   came back to win it with class, and not passing  on the last two laps  other cars not to get them down one more lap .   I saw in him that day  is Father Gilles   fighting spirit and class  made me proud to be Quebecois .........    Frapp

  Ahhh, sweetspott posted 1 of the greatest achievements ever when Secretariat ran the greatest horse race ever run!!! I remember it well...
