I must say you may have killed this game. Having pushed everyone to Pro with Hack or Amatuer clubs is ridiculuis. This is a PRO course and to have to hit clubs that only go 235 or a 3 wood that goes 210, Its impossible to reach almost all the par 4 holes. The new clubs you are selling dont go much farther either. So here we are average golfers (you say average golfer hit between 200- 230 drives) playing on a pro course. If we cant hit 250-260 drives then this course is unplayable. I helped signup 17 people from my clan. Most have spent the extra $$ to upgrade clubs but hearing them Today, most were saying they are done with this game because the way this new course plays.

I normally shoot -2, even, +3 on the other courses but to shoot a +20 here is insane. Give a chance to score here. A 605 yd par 6 = let see 235 drive, 210 second shot still 160 out, stupid!

Like I said you may have lost about 10-12 of the guys I helped sign up and spent money here.

I don't think comment like yours is much appreciated here ShaunMcClarty !  I can see that rnrmusic here is just expressing his opinion about things in this game that he's not happy with, and I know that he likes and cares about this game otherwise he would simply just walk away from here and not bother to say anything ! I am sure that this is not the kind of response that he'd hope for !

I really want to say this because i noticed that there are more and more posts in this forum that is very much like this, where people just take apart someone else's opinion ! This is a forum for the whole community to exchange ideas and voice their opinions about a certain issues  about this game, all with the purpose of making this game even better so everyone will enjoy playing it.  I think if you have something positive and nice to add then that's great and everyone here benefits from it.  Why spent time to write a post that has no purpose other than critizing what other people wrote or make fun of them ? Is that all you have to offer the whole community ?

This is a great game and a very well managed website and we should just grab the opportunity to play and enjoy the game we all love, and at the same time make new friends and have some fun together.  At the same time we also have a responsibility to behave in such a way so that new players will feel comfortable with the atmosphere here and would want to be a part of  this community.  Let's not ruin it for everyone by making silly comments and causing conflicts with other players for no reason.

I don't mean to get personal with you ShaunMcClarty, but after reading your comment this is how I feel, so I hope you can see it from my point of view.

I would have to agree.  this course is extremely hard.  a par four that you can't reach in regulations is pretty silly.  i enjoy all other aspects of this game and was looking forward to playing bethpage.  but probably won't bother having another crack at it.

Hear hear Coolswing. In fairness, I think Shaun's comments were a little out of character. Maybe he was just having a bad day.

I've never complained about any aspect of this game, but have made suggestions as to how things could be improved. Other than that, the only negative comments I've ever made have been against inappropriate posts, user names and so on.

Having said all that, I am starting to feel a little exploited. I was made up to the Master tier on Monday and I too found Bethpage absolutely unplayable without purchasing the clubs with extra distance. This should not be the case under any circumstances.

    Now, let's all be friends.

So, are we able to reach the par 4's in 2 with the upgraded clubs, or no?

Still playing with the starters here, but have been considering an upgrade.  Would be nice to know if they'll let you get to the green w/ 2 putts for par.

Thank you very much wgt for erasing that silly comment by ShaunMcClarty  in reply ro rnrmusic.  I think you guys are doing a great job here and the game is just getting better all the times with new improvements and courses.  It's these bad little things that we need to scrub off right away because it's not good for the game and the community of players on this site.

It's the US OPEN.... let me repeat, its the "virtual" US OPEN.  Stop bitching about a hard setup, if you feel that way keep playing Kiawah.  They made this course just as hard as it was when they played the open here in 2002 (i think that's the year).  And then the Pros werent making the fairway on 10, Jim Furyk played out of the rough short everyday.  The cut line was like +9, do you think you're the virtual equivalent of a pro golfer?  Hell no, so understand going in that this course is setup to be as difficult as possible.  7400 yards is crazy long, even for a professional setup, so it seems to reason that the average golfer would get a tremendous test out of it.  Work on your short game and many holes you have to layup to a good distance for your third, or play to a greenside bunker, because this course wont let you cruise around hitting 18 greens in regulation.  Nuff Said

mwb, I think your reply is misguided.  I don't think anyone on here feels the need to hit every fairway or 18 GIR.

Am I the virtual equivalent of a pro golfer?  Maybe.  But when I can outdrive my virtual "pro" golfer in real life - even if I purchase $20 of upgraded clubs for him, something seems awry.  I think that is all the OP was trying to say.

You talk of making this game realistic.  How realistic is it that the longest, most expensive driver, is rated at 245yds?  In my opinion again, that is unrealistic.  I don't want to hit every GIR or every fairway - it makes the game more exciting to have to scramble - but at least put some equipment in my hands that is realistic.  Speed up the cadence on the swing meter and give me a driver that hits 280-300yds.  That would make it much less accurate, but give you the distance needed to make it to some fairways and hit some GIR w/ ability to 2 putt for par.

The bottom line here is called "hook me, take my money", then you don't care if we enjoy it or not. Make it fun again where all can enjoy. I think that is what everyone is trying to say. Make it fair and put clubs on here that we can hit. I really enjoy your game but you continue to push me to the point I am my friends are going to quit. Maybe you don't care?
