Looks like the R11's have gone from the most expensive irons a couple of months back to the best buy for your buck nowadays ?

A bit like the 64* Satin wedge..lets hope for newer players they don't go the same way...

Well that is entirely possible.  Problem for WGT is that L97 is so far away that if that was the first chance you had to really compete it's nuts, and who coming in would bother waiting that long?

    geraldlarousse:
Just from a few ready goes....... and looking at the WD's.... don't look like they handle Vem well....lol.

My gut feel is that (as chrisironbones said) the game has reached a threshold.

Once those top players have time to get the irons bedded in it will be interesting, but beyond L90 (? at most now) the rest may well be just window dressing.  No one genuine shoots low all the time, but the real top players get themselves in the mix more often, and that's all I can strive for.  Certainly they understand more putts, and more approaches than I do, and I accept that.

I may well end up buying the new kit then wondering (know it already LOL) why? Getting to beyond the point where flash is looking a good vehicle still.  Combine that with real lack of shot shaping, and no built in penalty for missing when using that last 10% of power it leaves, too often, only the randomness of VEM to separate crazy low scores of the top players.

Yup... you have played enough ready goes Jim to get the picture.

Like you said the randomness of VEM is really the only thing that separates the top scores in each ready go.

Sooo.... are those irons VEM proof??     lol......   don't look like it.....lol

Sure they might be better clubs,,, but are they going to help me win more??

I don't think so. I could be hitting the best i can.... and VEM jumps on...might as well quit and do something else. Not you turn.... maybe next time.

Shame that the game has got to this point really. Would be nice if skill was the king. Limited programming...... and clubs that should have never been introduced in the first place has caused the issues we have now.

Scores will be manipulated,,, because the equipment is way to good.

When i start seeing low 50's in every tourney... i might think about buying them.

    Until then,,, i'm a R11 man.

Any difference will be tiny, now and then only, and the price is high for that.  I therefore don't think looking at WDs is any test.  If you were running RGs as a business (and good luck with that you say LOL) then the L90 R11s look best bang for buck by far.

I do hope that VEM has not made the new Nike L97s entirely window dressing that's all.

I have to disagree there mate. That tells you that VEM don't care what irons you got...lol. Yup,,, that right there also tells you that those irons are not going to help you overcome manipulation.

I would say that is about all..... dressing. I'm sure that they are a better set of irons,, but when its money shot time,, and not your turn,,,i guess at that point $40 is a lot...lmao!

Time for a little comic relief...check out this shot at RSG #11 in the week 51 unltd tourney.  Pin was pulled (even though replays always show pin in for some reason) so the ball didn't hit the flagstick.  Guess it could've hit the back of the cup, but didn't sound like it did.

Anyway... for your Vemly entertainment, may we present:

    The rubberband shot

Yeah Jim, the jumps from each level are staggering 93+..but I would hate to see them reduced as if members coming through get it any easier then all the hard yards we put in would seem cheapened..literally !

The problem is as I see it is that WGT brought out sooo much great gear for the L15 - 50'rs last year to increase revenue which then made tiering up easier and quicker but also stuck members on the longer tees with inferior equipe compared to there Tier peers and imo, less of a % were sticking around, so...

WGT had to fill in all the gaps for the L60 / 70 TM / Legends otherwise boredom quickly sets in and they leave..which is what you alluded to, if you can't compete it's pointless !

So that we now have this plethora of clubs through every level, as being a L60 something Legend is not the norm but not as incongruous as it would've seemed 14 months ago..( hence a lot of multi accusations )  and now WGT have started the ball rolling it will be impossible to stop.

Interesting maybe ? but I doubt it as the best 30 players on here can beat each other on any given day with R11s, Bladze or Nikes.......And we are now being asked to buy into this club race which as you point out is window dressing.

All we can do till is strive..

I accept their better understanding too, but a lot of the TOP players have been here for years !

We just pups and growing into the roll...

Give US another 2 yrs  grrrrrr  :-))

I say there bud. That looked like some serious backspin applied there....lol.

Them Nikes irons got some serious spin....lol....got to avoid to much spinage.

Unlucky mate.... hate when that happens.

    ;)

All this new equipment is "keeping up with the Jones's "  None of us actually need It but because say YJ's got It, we all think we need It.

LMAO. Because I have them?? Who the hell am I to be the benchmark for what to have? I happen to like playing with the best stuff and studying how it all works and these irons are subtly better than the R11's. There IS a difference in the meter speed and it took a few rounds to stop hitting early but now that that's under control the same speed from 3i to 64W is worth it.

I'm not one of those VEM fanatics that blames it on my failings, these irons just flat out perform.  :-)

Do you envisage your average improving because of them Jim? Be interested:)
