Seen many posts on the dreaded v.e.m with regards to iron/approach shots etc. Although many posters here swear wgt does apply vem sometimes when taking putts, I have never seen an official confirmation or denial of this by any wgt moderator. Myself recently had a round in a RG where a few putts OBVIOUSLY took a totally different line to were I had set the aimer  and I did hit the ding.   Please, could a moderator confirm or deny this once and for all??  Also would appreciate some tour legends opinions on this.  thxs all.

I don't think they'll ever admit to it, because admitting to it
might bring up the question of fraud, since there's money involved,
in RG's and other premium tournies.

I too wrote about occasions when the ball takes a different line
than the one I select (not talking about where the ball necessarily ends up
but rather where it starts off). it doesn't happen much on the greens,
but it will happen on driving and iron shots, best time to see it
is when you play the no wind tournies and ding it flawlessly,
only to see the ball land 7 yards to the side of the cup,
it's a known thing, some prefer to dismiss the very idea and blame it on you,
others (like myself) have learned to live with it, and accept it for what it is.
the idea is to try and prevent scores from getting too low,
but the execution is often flawed and unfair, but it is what it is,
best advice is to ignore it and move on since getting upset won't change a thing.

I'm pretty sure it exists. Sometimes the ball just doesn't come off the blade in a straight line.

Being as all my systems are fully operational, I see no reason to limit myself to the tee boxes or fairways. I'm always glad to assist players with their putting also.

    VEM :)

I can't understand what a confirmation or denial will do for you. What are you hoping to get from it? The Mods will only say what they're allowed to say. Nobody is ever satisfied and then we all continue playing anyway.

yes seems to happen on putting green very rarely but I guess if you play long enough you eventually see it,  also always seems to happen in ready go's more often then regular stroke play games. Would be nice if the putting green was sacred ground once you get there but appears not to be the case.  Would be nice to get an official answer from a moderator but i"m not gonna hold my breath.

All I can hope is that the answer would be the truth, then at least a little peace of mind knowing maybe it wasn't a misread that caused the putt to miss, but that  vem played some part or not.

Read this thread.  It may clear up what you think is VEM as to precision of putters.  Bhoese took some time to ding 20 putts on different  putters and chart their distance and accuracy. Even the high precision putters are offline inches on the same putt. IMO alot of my missed putts are because I don't take the time to view the chip front and back views. Greens read different from different views....one time looked at 4 different views and had 4 different breaks (now that's frustrating)....aimed straight at cup and made it....lol
