    MainzMan:
Might I also add though that those who come on and write huge posts could take note of the way you wrote yours, breaking a big post up into paragraphs makes it so much more likely to be read right through.

Thanks, I try to do it exemplary.  Sometimes English As A Second Language people might see my writing and I want it to be useful and decrease the chance of miscommunication. Among other things, I try to make a habit of:

    • Reducing the usage of esoteric locutions that would be difficult for Google Translator to translate by being more formal than informal.
    • Clearly setting up the context of an analogy to reduce ambiguity and miscommunications.
    • And sensible paragraph spacing.

These things and many others contribute to the recurring theme of my posts, long.

    Phew, this one was short,

    JMan

I think this is totally wrong. I used to play a lot of pinball back in the 60's. I had one favorite machine I played all the time. It was 25 cents for 3 games. After reaching 2500 points a hole would light up. Every time you put the ball in the hole when lit you won a free game. If you took your knee and barely lifted the machine a 1/4 of an inch the ball would not pop out and just kept racking up free games. I would be able to play for hours and never spend another cent. Made me look like the old pinball wizard himself. I told the owner of the arcade about this. He had the machine bolted to the floor so it couldn't be done. At my current volume of play on WGT I am looking at between 130 and 140 days to reach level 98. With over 1900 ranked rounds and countless AS under my belt, I will reach level 98 sometime in April 2014. To each their own. Whatever makes you feel warm and fuzzy. I will stay cold and furry.

Cold and furry?  Sounds like a bad way to bring in the New Year.

I can certainly see an ethical issue with this. The fact that a new player could easily reach level 70+ within their first day is definitely cause for concern.  I am fully aware of how hypocritical this is given that I used the method posted by CJ to get to L97 quickly.  I wasn't aware of how to get the best out of it at the time or I could have had those 90,000+ points in a couple of days instead of a week.

Like Renni and his pinball freeloading though I'm done with it.  I have no desire to bore myself to tears again duffing tee shot after tee shot after tee shot ad nauseam.  I wouldn't go so far as to actively petition WGT to stop others doing it, I assume they're following this thread and if they want and are able to, they will prevent it happening any more.

Wherever a loophole exists someone will find it and use it.  That's just life I'm afraid.

The worst thing for me is having reached L97 and rented the new Nike irons for free I'm now going to have to wait ages until I've watched enough videos to buy them.  I honestly didn't think they were good enough to spend real money on.

There are always glitches in games to gain more XP or whatever it is. Some people use them some people dont.

Either way. Whats the big deal? Oh NO!! Joeblow is level 97 now and has the best clubs because hes wasted hours and hours even days of his life playing par 3's over and over.

Problem is, his game likely still stinks. He still cant compete with the top players. But he has the best equipment and thats made him happy.

    Who cares?

I agree with you somewhat Mainzman. The obvious is the multi reaping the deal here.

But...... what about the honest players? Even if a honest player did this and was able to purchase high level gear,, their game would still represent a beginner.

Sooo.... really is nothing but the multi where the problem comes in. But.... WGT came out with some sweet clubs and candy bars to help them right along.

Yup... i say leave it alone. Nobody here is going to stop the dishonest from doing their thing. Part of the game now,, really a big part.

Aye MainzMan, I don't think your actions fit what hypocrisy is (unless you're using a different definition from common dictionaries).

    From Dictionary.com:

    2. a person who feigns some desirable or publicly approved attitude, especially one whose private life, opinions, or statements belie his or her public statements.

I'll tell a story that I just thought of to better illustrate why I don't think hypocrisy fits you in this case.

A man and his faimily wanted to vacation to Germany; their destination was the capital of the German state Rhineland-Palatinate.

They boarded the plane that they presumed was correct, and while waiting to take off, they fell into a short sleep.  They did not hear the pilot's announcement that the plane's destination was Brazil!

After finally getting all the way back from Brazil, the man and his family went to the correct terminal and were about to board the correct plane when they noticed another man who also wanted to travel to Germany about to board the same plane to Brazil. The man and his family quickly intercepted the other wayward traveler and kindly alerted him of the mistake.

After hearing the man explain how he knew that was the wrong plane, the wayward traveler exclaimed to the man and his family in front of everyone at the airport, "You hypocrite!!!"  "The whole bunch of you hypocrites!  How DARE you try to tell me what is right!"  "You took this plane too!"  The wayward traveler continued and boarded the wrong plane and arrived at the wrong destination.

In the story, even if the vacationing man was a hypocrite (and he was not), the other man should not have been so ridiculous to ridicule a person trying to help him avoid disaster.

From what I've experienced a lot, people are using the word hypocrite to describe something that the definition does not even speak of.  They're usually using the word hypocrite in a context that describes someone who has lived, learned a better path to take, and then tried to help someone else avoid the same mistakes.

Many times I hear people needlessly condemning others and even themselves for being "hypocritical" when they are not.  I believe that they do not clearly understand what the significance of that word has indicated through history.

For those whose first language is not English and the current younger generation, the original significance of the word "hypocrite" may never have even been thoroughly understood.

    I hope this helps.

    Einen guten Rutsch!

    JMan

    BTW:

Is it true that the prefixes "hypo-" and "hyper-" denote opposite sides of the word they accompany? Like "over" and "under" or reverse?
