    WGTicon:

    WGTicon:
if there are 2 pins per hole, then distance may be calculated to the middle of the green.

    [...]

I am not talking about scorecard... I for one, never rely on that but that could just be me.

    Confusing...

If you aren't talking about the scorecard distance which is shown on the tee, upper right corner, before the first shot, what are you talking about then?

Which other distance should be calculated to the middle of the green on WGT courses?

    I don't know of any.

    alberich35:

@alosso i read. But i am not talking about the theory of the shorstest distance between  point A and point B.

Neither do I. What I say applies to BPB #1, too, only there the shot length is the beeline over the debris.

    alberich35:
Just sometimes tee to hole announced distance is wrong, tested & verified on this hole.
At STA#10 and others, there are two pins with different distances from the tee. As I said before, the scorecard (= top right corner of the game window) invariably shows the distance to one fixed pin. If the other is active, there will be a discrepancy. Try and move the marker to the area of the invisible pin.

And, no matter how loud you call it "wrong", it won't be changed IMNSHO. We are supposed to memorize these spots.

    alberich35:
Others times same distance is in feet, so you have to calculate for adjust shot. (and us in Europe dont know how many feet in a yard and nothing about others US standards, have to google each time)
I struggled frequently with the conversion, too, once made me a spreadsheet to calculate shot lengths of elevated putts.

The math is unfamiliar to us but not too difficult, 12 inches = 1 foot, 3 feet = 1 yard.

Alas, I still don't know about which situation you are talking. Putts are in feet, other shots are in yards, and on the fringe or green, the display changes accordingly. Any example? Replay available?

I think we should ask Chrisirionbones about this, If he does not know the answer, he most certainly will have a gripe on this issue, YES?

    Have a nice day!

You're welcome, go ahead it you need his advice.

I know what I know and what not: distance calc/display to the middle of the green.

i might be off here but how i see it the distance given upper right is a scorecard distance and measured to the center of green , hover on your ball from the tee and you'll find the distance is different a lot of the time ...

    I'm afraid not.

"Green center" is a reference for measurement and rating of real golf courses (=> amateur play, printed scorecards), but not in Pro tournaments. In those tournaments, e.g. Open Championships, the hole length is given for the actual measured length, depending on tee and pin positions, differing every day, every round.

IMHO this concept has been adopted by WGT, but not including the second pins which were introduced later. Therefore the distance is correct sometimes (primary pin) and deviates to the second pin. (Alas, Par3 distances are always correct)

This only has special relevance on driveable holes where one might overshoot like the OP did aparently...

I did, in the first reply of this thread:

    alosso:

Nominal distance on Par4s and Par5s is to one fixed pin in WGTland, and if the other is on, you'll see it

    - when hovering over the blue dot on the mini-map,

    - when pulling the marker to the pin,

    - like you did, when adding shot length and distance left.
