A bit disappointing WGT, No Christmas tournies, no Christmas equipment. Just a snowflake ball / tournament (for WGT Nation members only!) and a rental offer :(

    Baah humbug !  lol

Most Nation members will hope the snow 'ball' will melt over time in equipment BUT....

Don't knock the free rental weekend.......even though the 4 or 5 that have happened during my time here didn't allow me to try what I wanted ( just bad level timing on my behalf )

I'm sure 1000's  of members are utilizing the offer and gaining great insight ?

    Andy

PS: sent a sleeve better than the 'rocks' you are using...just to alleviate the pain.

    Merry Xmas Bono ;-(

Ok in all fairness for many higher level players it is just another ball to rattle in the bag, but many actually use them as well, as  isn't  something for nothing better than nothing at all?

Nation members NEED more benefits, so personally think that is not a bad move. That said, many play over the Holiday Season, so perhaps it would have been an incentive for all players to partake in a Xmas Tourny, which in turn equals more ball usage.

But the free rentals is a good thing (and yes, I will hark on - the clubs should be for practice mode only) albeit I will not bother as there is nothing I want to trial.

If WGT gave everyone 100,000  credits  for Xmas there would still be complaints. Unbelievable!

Free Rentals are always good,  but I think practice games are easier than ranked rounds and we should be using the the free rentals in Ranked Rounds in match conditions.

This is true.  Nation was a great idea at the start, but was poorly managed and has eventually fizzled out into nothing

Anything that Wgt gives us is always good.  I won't use the free ball, but I will keep it in the collection with the others. Just need a display cabinet to keep em in now....lol.

Sorry Roger, for a change I vehemently disagree.

Practice rounds can be set to conditions of your choice, so will be no easier if you choose.

Surely the purpose of renting clubs is to trial and ascertain whether a certain club or clubs will help your game. This can be done just as well in practice mode.

Having the ability to use rental clubs in RR is a recipe to  aid  sandbaggers. This is evident to tournaments and in MPC and skins. Therefore I have no problem if NO credits are involved (such as a normal ranked round) but should be excluded in any other form.

Obviously this would create untold issues with the programmers, so just set the exclusion as ALL ranked ounds.

I never said anything about 'free stuff' but now that you mention it...

WGT did give everyone a free orange Halloween ball with vapor trail.

WGT normally have something going on around holiday times....there seem to be a lot of people who think they know everything about WGT but I'm surprised.

It's got nothing to do with $$$. If they're clever about it one could argue that they could use it to make more $$$ but anyway there it is a non-even for WGT.

    The 'scroogers' are happy.

I am struggling to understand what this thread is about.

    free ball = good

    free rental = good

    new irons recently = good

I do  believe  it was you that said you were disappointed.

I certainly do not know everything about WGT, but I do have a pretty good understanding of business.

As such all free offers are designed to ultimately sell more product and expose the product to as many potential users as possible.

Here is an analogy - go to Spain.Portugal on a package holiday and you will be greeted in the streets by smiling  assassins  - yes time share sales agents.

You get a FREE feast of paella or sardines, even cheap wine or beer, then have to sit through a hard sale pitch, and the theory is you will sign on the dotted line with no cooling off period.

Ok WGT do not do the hard sell, the coax you with a free ball/putter or shot pal etc. But as these run out,  the punter will then decide they should buy more to get through the round, and after all, they may be pretty good.

As a business they do not HAVE to offer anything, after all the product is damed fine. Sure some good PR never goes astray, but all PR is ultimately designed to increase sales.

At the end of the day and with such diverse range of customers (demographics, social and economic) they will never please everyone.

Many businesses thrive on the Holiday Season, WGT is not really such a business - all I was  pointing  out is at any time of the year, there are opportunities to seize so why should WGT be any different?
