  Ricky Nelson died in a plane crash about 10 miles from the prison I worked at on Dec 31,1985.  His plane went down between DeKalb and New Boston, Tx...about 30 miles from Texarkana.  My aunt worked as a police dispatcher in Texarkana and was the one who dispatched the emergency personnel to the wreck site and helped coordinate the NTSB and DPS accident investigation into the accident.
