andypat:Sorry to disagree but I have had this happen on many occasions, it's down to wgt playing silly games yesterday I had a 155yd shot to the green played it 160 with bs and the ball landed at 135 thats 25yds short of the shot I played and it was only 1/2 spin so there is know way that ball would have been that short the wind was a L/R 5mph.
And I beg to disagree :)
Yes we all get WTF shots (or variance, VEM whatever you want to call it) but these I believe are with the tolerance or parameters set by the programmers, From my experience this is set up to a maximum of 20%.
Bills shot certainly was well in excess of this so think inadvertently he did something. Your shot fits in that area. Bear in mind this is a plus or minus 20%.
Frustrating? Very.
Realistic? Yes (based on my golfing experiences and I was a low handicap player).
I did keep a record for quite some time based on shots that didn't do what I expected. Most were in the vicinity of around 10%, some a little more, some a little less. But 10% on a wedge approach from 100 yards is a lot (I had one when we played last). It is certainly the difference between a probable birdie and a par. But like I said, it is realistic compared to real golf (and in real golf it can be wind effects but often the swing mechanics that are slightly off).
So I just shake my head, and carry on, BUT if you have credits on the line, thats when IMO it is wrong. Thats one reason I will not bet credits, plus for me it is fun, or a challenge.
