    Great Tournament Corwyn.

Please everyone complete your matches. Even though ROW has already won the UEL Ryder Cup, let's see how competitive the USA vs ROW really can be.

    Go Team USA !!!

    1. The Corwyn's Availability chart was the only reason we were able to get the matches completed in a reasonable amount of time, in this case 1 week. And choosing pairings and matches based on availability was a necessity.

    2. If enough players want to play, then a qualification process should be used.

    3. Worst-Ball was a great idea and very fun. I would be in favor of using this along with Alternate-Shot. Even if/when AS supports UEL.

    4. Currently just encourage everyone to 'friend' everyone on their team including alternates and to know the rules of the game and use of alternates.

    5. 1 week to get a cross-country/cross-world match completed is probably the shortest time you can use without eliminating a lot of players from being available.

UEL Starters is fun, but I have a tough time wanting to practice to get really good at using Starters. I would still play an UEL Starters tournament if organized by someone that is known to be good at running a tournament, such as Corwyn .

Now with wgtshoe starting to promote Starters within wgt, the Starters might get a lot more interest.

Thank you everyone, for all this great feedback. Keep it coming, please! It's really helpful to know what worked, and what to do to try and make it go more smoothly next time.

And good luck to everyone playing this weekend!

Thanks Corwyn for a brilliantly organized tournament, my thoughts echo Russ's .

I would urge all of the ROW players to play your singles matches, the result maybe sorted but it would be nice to finish this off.

This was my first venture into a community organized tournament, and i'll be lnow looking to play many more, especially if they're oranized as well as Corwyn ran this one, not forgetting the contributions of the USA captains.

Our match just finished a bit ago and what a match it was IMO!!  I started hot and was 3 up at the turn and then Mark (Fairwayruepel) started the turnaround w/ a great tee shot on 10 that lead to an eagle. He kept clawing back and finally got back to all square w/ 18 to play. We both found the green w/ longish putts left for us and after 2 good efforts the match ended A/S. I took screen shots of the cards but have lost them in the transition somewhere but i jotted down our scores on each hole. By my count in this match there were 16 birdies 1 eagle and 2 bogeys(both made by me lol).

It was a very enjoyable match and tourney as well! Would definitely do it again.

Big thanks go out to Corwyn for organizing and all the others that helped out.

Big Ups for the idea and let's do it again!!!

    Rock

It should be said that Russ shouldered almost all the work involved in being Team USA captain, as Doug sadly had a death in the family and was out of action for most of the duration.

So thank you Russ for all of your commitment, which was considerable... being available for quick consultations regarding rules-setting, and conferring on all the tricky decisions that needed to be made, as well as the process of arriving at matches via the 'secret envelope' method. This tourney couldn't have happened without all of your contributions. Thank you so much!

And Steve, we must also acknowledge your role as ROW co-captain. Thank you for all of your support and timely help just when it was needed!

Wow, Rock! That sounds like a fantastic match, with both of you shooting something like a 62, in Ryder Cup conditions. Incredible!

I'm glad you had such a great time, and it sounds as if the fair result was achieved. Another great 'clash of the titans' for two of the strongest players in the tourney.

Overall Series Score: Team ROW: 13  |  Team USA: 8

Also, in other news, Priestess and Moosetaya plan to play out their 'tie-breaker' match, just for fun... and the plan is for it to be live-streamed by thesupernova. Full details to follow, so please watch this space, but I believe the time (to be confirmed) will be 10:30pm UK time on Monday, which is 5:30pm Moose's time on the East Coast (and 2:30pm WGT time). We're hoping it can also be archived to allow any of us to catch up with it later.

As the match is done, and we've all made some new friends, I feel i can say this now...

    "Go Moose"

Moosetaya has put up with me in his cc for a long while, so I'm hoping, given his day in the spotlight, he can come up with a great performance.

Jim and I played our singles earlier, and I came through with a 5&4 win.

Jim just had one of those days with the putter where almost nothing went right. He'd played the percentage tee shot on #3 to get safely on, but well up on the green, after I'd found the left bunker ... whereupon of course I floated this escape to a safe par distance while he discovered how impossible 72 feet from there really was. A gorgeous downhill 13 footer on #9 was his only bright spot on a day when just about every other putt slid by, including a beauty that looked in all the way on #14 (which would have extended the match).

I missed quite a few makeable putts myself, but a string of birds entering the back 9 took me to 6 up with 6 to play. This 16 foot putt on #12 for birdie was the highlight.

Thanks for an enjoyable match Jim, and congratulations on your excellent showing in the competition. For a TourMaster with lower-level equipment, and stepping up to longer tees and faster greens on this very tough course with unevens, you really held your own.

    Here's our card:

(I tried to get the detail view by clicking on the names/arrows, but nothing happened. I suspect to get the full detail as Steve did, the match has to go all the way through 18... ?)

    Our scores:
    C: 4-(4)-3- (4)- 4-  4- 4-4- 3           (3)-(3)-(3)-3- 4
    J:  4-5- [4]-(4)-[5]-[5]-4-4-(2)           4-  4-  [5]-(2)-4
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And so, with 2 matches remaining in the Singles (plus one tie-breaker for fun) the current standings are:

Overall Series Score: Team ROW: 14  |  Team USA: 8

    That's great! Thanks Tess.

I'm sure a good number of folks will be there to cheer you both on. Sadly, I will probably only be able to drop in to say hi at most, but hope you have fun!
