    How do you play this?

I've just managed to hit the maximum number of shots on this hole. My approach shot was short left. I hit a flop shot up, which rolled back off the green. I hit another which went way behind the hole. I putted back, just missed the hole and it rolled off the green. It just carried on like that.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Jason.

Well i aim short and left if it's the front pin, then flop close. If it's the back pin I go slightly long and flop close again. You don't want to leave a putt over 3 or 4 feet on that hole.

After driving into the weeds, and punching out, I hit this baby yesterday (usually have 180-200 to pin after decent drive, and this was pleasing after such a horrific drive)

With the new Level 97+ Nike Irons I just aim right of the hole and try to get it as close as I can. The new Nikes stop so much better that you can try shots that even with the R11 irons wouldn't work.

Before the new Irons I played it  similar to Courteney except I used either pitch or chip depending on elevation and distance left. I have birdied it quite a few times with chip-ins and pitch ins.

We're on different green speeds. I find only the flop will do on several Merion greens.

On long approaches, I aim for the far right edge of the green.  If you hit it just right with proper spin, it'll roll to the left and can stop as short as 2 feet from the pin.  It's rare, but I've done it here or there.

And if it rolls off, I just play it like everyone else does.

I agree with CF. There are many more par & birdie chances and rarely more than than a  bogey, with the flop in hand.
