The Pinehurst No. 2 Restoration – A Hole-by-Hole Tour
Wow ... after having looked at the course and the yardages involved, it becomes increasingly clearer why WGT released the Nike irons and Covert driver ... there are going to be long bunker carries off the tees and alot of long iron approach shots that will need ample spin. All rough has been removed from the fairways leaving nothing to stop balls from rolling into the bunkers. Likely we'll have the back nine par 5 at over 600 yards, and several par 4's over 500. And the greens look like undulation heaven. My hesitant prediction is this course will be the toughest yet of the U.S. Open courses.
Many Thanks Apex ! I can't wait for the release of it, but can predict it will be another Open I won't qualify for...looks like a toughfy.
Looks like a good test. I can see many a good round going to pot in a single hole, especially if WGT sets the pine straw / wiregrass up to play like the mulch at Kiawah - you know punch and pray.
Had a look yesterday for the umpteenth time, going to be good when it finally appears, as you've all mentioned, not liking the look of the 'wispy' grass around the bunker edges, l think its going to be another tester!!
very long course I think
Now if they would only allow all legends to use the same equipment 😇
DrSlick: Now if they would only allow all legends to use the same equipment 😇
Allowing all Tour Legends to use the same equipment makes sense. But if you did it for Legends surely you'd have to do it for all of the tiers.

And why would that be? If there is justification for allowing all Tour Legends to use the same equipment, there is justification for allowing all players belonging to the same tier to use the same equipment as they all face the same conditions. I don't get the logic of it ...
