I have to change topics here. Is anyone else bothered by how quickly purchased balls are taken out of play?

Nah! You "don't have to change topics here." Ball durability isn't a Bug.

There are already 692.6 threads on the exact same subject in the WGT forums - if you bother to look.

    Yes, it bothers some players.

If it bothers you, you can choose to not buy balls, or stick with the cheap balls.

FWIW - except for the Practice mode Mulligan feature, putts don't reduce ball life.

So take fewer strokes from off the green if you want to have a ball last longer.

The following ball durability chart chart was compiled earlier this year by a few members of The Peoples Club:

    * Putts do not count as hits & are not included, except putts from the fringe.

    ** Calculated based on 21 hits per 9-hole round (par 36 with 67% green-in-regulation).

There are a few empty fields and the new Nike balls aren't listed, but I can atest to the accuracy of the statistics.

As you can see, dots of durability as provided by WGT can be a bit inaccurate.
