We're kinds hijacking the thread here, but, I understand sandbagging to be, as Jim said, keeping your average high and what not, to stay in the lower tiers, for the purpose of winning tournaments and such to gain credits.

So, the measures put in place to combat sandbagging, as it relates to moving up, are things like beating higher tiered players in MP and winning tournaments, correct? In a sense, it makes it easier to move up, if you play well, in which case, the measures can have a desired effect on both sides of the issue.

    WGTadmin:
they include factoring in scores from players who perform well in tournaments and challenge games for credits.
    Read carefully.

This is the same text than the first notice about "Sandbagging change" by WGTwildcat in Oct, 2012. Might give some hints about the range of measures.

I wouldn't call it easier (unless a friend helps to push you up) but quicker and - most of all - more versatile.

The old system was easy to trick, just don't play strokeplay. Credits are on the road in matches, Blitz and Skins, too.

Now (as I hope) any credits won accelerate the advancement, and the "win" for a player is to face longer tees at lower levels. Win?

Agreed. It should be harder as you move up and the more you are rewarded for good play, the harder it would be to stay down.

What I've never understood is what the attraction to cheating this game is. There is no tangible reward, e.g. money, only the knowledge that you could cheat the game. That's the hacker mentality.

There must be money at stake - every player earns $$!

Look at the money leaders' board on the home page, look at the tournament leaderboards - Dollars everywhere!

Ego. One's own personal sense of warped achievement. Makes them feel right.  :-)
