I'm on the fringe chipping.  It's 9 feet to the pin 6 in. up.  The wind is blowing 18 mph in my face.  I choose my 60 degree wedge in chip mode which gives me a distance of 10  feet. I make the chip at about 95% power and the ball goes 14 feet.  How are you supposed to make a good shot when this happens, and it happens a lot on other shots and distances.

    Appreciate any input.  Thanks.

WGT NOTHING BUT MONEY HUNGRY BASTARDS,,,,,THEY THINK THAT WE DONT KNOW HOW TO ADJUST FOR WINDS AND BREAKS,,,,,,,THEY THINK WE DONT KNOW BY NO HOW FAR THE BALL WILL TRAVEL AFTER MAKING THE SAME SHOT 1000 TIMES,,,,WE KNOW WHEN THE BALL COMES UP - 50 YARDS SHORT OR LONG FOR SOME REASON, UNEXPLAINABLE. WGT FUKS WITH YOUR GAME SO FUKING BAD,,,,,,JUST TO MAKE U BUY MORE BALLS AND EQUIPMENT. THERE JUST MONEY HUNGRY BASTARDS THAT ONLY CARE ABOUT THEIR WALLETS,,,,NOT THE PLAYERS,,,,THAT SPEND THEIR MONEY HERE TRYING TO GET SOME PLEASURE OUT OF PLAYING.

There are a number of reasons this could happen and varies depending on the hole, the spin used to the clubs and ball.

As a chip shot rolls more, you need to know the gradients over the entire putt. It may be 6 inches up between the ball and hole, but if it was 12 inches up hill to about 3 feet, then 6 inches downhill from there, your ball will keep running.

Also a ball that has better attributes helps, but really the spin used has a huge difference, more than the wind on a chip or pitch shot. This is also true of the clubs, where precision and forgiveness come into play - usually the better the clubs the less likely of big variances (but not always).

I assume it happened at St A's as this is where you mainly play so you should know the course pretty well, but even the most experienced players sometimes screw up their club selection/shot type.

My recommendation is play all the courses as each course plays differently and different shot types work. Also play some CC tournaments - I notice you never play CC tournys and have no friends there, why bother being a member (just an observation).

I think your numbers are off-somewhere.

Are you speaking in yards or feet?

    Did you use backspin?

Last time I looked a company making money was not against the law. If you don't agree either quit the game or use all starter equipment, it's free.

True mike. With the chip the 60 degree Ping wedge he has is rated at 10 or 11 yards not 10 feet. 9 feet would be 3 yards and that if not putted would be the ping 64 degree he has. But I don't recall any pin just 3 yards from the edge of the green on here. There are a couple of 4,5 or 6 yarders but none that I recall just 3 yards.
