7 hours of fuel.. hmm, more like 30.

nanstar - Maximum capacity has nothing to do with how much fuel the plane actually took on board.

To the point alanti was probably intending the post to point out, our overdependence on technology, especially voice to text recognition software without an educated human being reviewing the output, has reached the point of being ridiculous. It's obvious that the basics are no longer being taught in our educational system.

The company's name is one of the most recognizable in the world. There is simply no legitimate reason that CNN should broadcast it as "Bowing" instead of "Boeing."

Yeah, "Bowing" is what caught my eye.  To be fair and balanced, or fairly unbalanced, let's throw in Fox and their penchant for putting a "D" next to the name of any politician accused of a crime even if he/she is actually an "R"...only to make their retraction later in the wee small hours, if at all.  On top of that, is there anyone anywhere on the planet more empty-headed than Sean Hannity?

Yup, this was my point. How could an organisation like CNN get something so wrong.

As for the event I am personally quite devastated this happened to a 777, an aircraft I know exceptionally well, but unlike all the speculation of media outlets, I wait with an open mind as to the cause of this tragic event.
