FatDan- I understand your point - (YJ is big on missing to the wind side too) - but try to understand mine - I'm TRYING to "ding" it - I would be equally unsuccessful if I TRIED to miss the "ding" to one side or the other - If you play the L90 R-11s, you'd better not miss by much or your ball will turn up in the county adjacent to the course!

Yes, the numbers that I entered into Kat's program were for the specific clubs that I use, as I use them and with the ball that I normally play and the program does an excellent job of "predicting" (aim and power).

BTW - I have been playing the WGT Free ball (just for the heck of it) for the last few days with remarkable results. I left the Club specs as they were for the Cally 33 but adjusted the ball Distance and Spin factors to .5 (figured that a zero might make the program hick-up).

If I get pretty close to the 'ding',  the ball performs very much like the Callys on the approach shots (except that the balls do not show backspin)  and extremely accurate with the Putter Calculator.

Am thinking about buying a few sleeves of the WGT "Cheapies", mappng them & trying them with this program.  If it works, I can save a TON on balls (LOL).

LOL, if I was playing my R11's w/ the 33 Cally(#3 meter) I would be lucky to hit the ding 30% of the time, most likely 5% w/ a starter ball...LOL

The point was based on crosswinds and you using the R11's, if you ur playing a 10mph wind and aim right at that mark planning on dinging it when you said you ding 30% of the time, ur setting yourself up to fail 70% of the time...if you play that same wind to miss into it a little the result of hitting a little bit late will be a better than missing the ding early with the wind...a little more room for error...I do try to ding it with head or tail winds.

I know if I miss my R11's with a strong wind the penalty is huge....believe it or not when I ding a shot most of the time I'm p!ssed off LOL...now putts are a different story.

Several players have shared replays with me using starter clubs and/or just starter balls ... really impressive!  I'm not recommending one makes that switch without knowing how the green rolls after the carry.  It's nice to see the approach calculator working for all the possible combinations of clubs/balls.

    Kat,
Started playing with the wind settings on the "Wind, Elevations, Misc." page because my shots were acting a bit strange in moderate winds (turned out I was using Started Ball figures on the "Irons & Ball Spec." page - (not a) big surprise that they weren't action like Cally 33s).  Kat,  I'm sure that you had no doubt, but for those who wonder, if you play with a ball that advertises a spin rating of 3.5 but you have told Kat's program that the ball has no spin value - it produces really weird results (LOL).
While  the exercise did teach me (to "pull it out" before adjusting anything) how to adjust for winds on the first page ("Winds, Elev --,etc"), it opened a whole 'nother can of worms when I (finally) noticed "Wind Adjustments (Full & Punch)" for each of my clubs. I'll 'fess now, I left your figures {the heck} alone here, because I have no clue about how you derived them!
Are these part of the future improvements that you mentioned earlier?

P.S. The Putting Calculator works superbly (even with specs for the wrong ball) !!

What I'm working on now is automating the wind power and club adjustments.  Pretty much will do the tweaking on the fly if you wish.  This will be a major release, and will also handle the full and punch adjustments for the clubs.

The club percentages are based on standard lofts for the irons.  With trial and error, I found a 54 degree wedge should receive around 100% of the wind power ... higher lofted clubs will receive a bit more and lower lofted clubs will receive a bit less.  I've noticed that depending on the ball used, you'll have one or two irons that will be off a few feet (short/long/left and/or right).

Thanks ... the ball shouldn't matter on the green.
