There have been a few threads lately about the price of balls and equipment, many of them negative. There are arguments for and against the current policy and I'm not going to repeat them here. What I am going to do is suggest an additional way of paying that would increase the predictability of your income, and that is paid memberships.

My idea is that you have a pay for membership package of different levels, costs and benefits. People sign up to whatever package they choose and their credit card is debited the agreed amount every month. The details obviously would need to be arranged by WGT as you know your costs, but the idea is the total package should bring about an overall saving for the player and this is offset in WGT's side of things by a steady predictable income.

The following are base ideas only the numbers could be changed according to WGT's costs:

Gold Membership - $50 a month, Free entry to all 'paid' tournaments, unlimited number of balls (non transferable), 50% reduction on all clubs (non transferable).

Silver Membership - $20 a month, 5 sleeves of balls of players choice (non transferable), 25% reduction on all clubs.

Bronze Membership - $10 a month 5 sleeves of 250 credit balls per month, 10% reduction on all clubs.

So your idea is to pay a monthly subscription, and still pay for clubs? No way John, if that happens, im outa here in a flash. I wouldnt even go down the route of a monthly subscription without having to pay for clubs.

The details are just an example they could be tweaked according to the real costs that only WGT know. I don't think they're going to give a subscription package where everything is free for a reasonable cost, but if they did / could, hey, great.

Also the idea is that this would be an additional way of paying, the current methods would run alongside the new one, or at least that's the way I see it.

There are a few of us who manage to play the game for nothing. If there was a monthly fee I don't think that they would stay long. I certainly wouldn't.

As I said, this idea is to run alongside the current methods of paying / earning credits, those like yourself who use the methods of earning credits would not in any way be affected. My idea is just to try to encourage WGT to introduce some discounts, this may be one way, they get a more predictable income we (or those of us who chose to use our own cash) get a discount.

Perhaps it would also be possible to 'buy' a subscription using 'earned' credits, that way you too would get access to the discounts, although I'm not sure what WGT would get out of that and you know their apparent fixation with the bottom line.

    Great idea John.

Great one indeed thinkin' about the fact that WGT forget how to encourage the basic "buy credits and get free balls", something like an old one promo, maybe during the Black Friday days, we speak about 2 years ago. Last one made was the discount for players which choose to buy the old Ping G20 Full Set but that's way they are ready to change it with something new, like the new release said in a couple of days ago thread.

It's not a problem get sometimes a free rental weekend but recive a "sponsorship or promotional virtual gift" after invest real money it's always a good way to involve players in the customer "conditions", that's why we are players and customers first.

I like the idea, and WGT should be use the useless Nation Membership like they did in the first weeks of the new "program" but I think they have lost its bite and this also because, removing rewards from the proshop (gift cards), have definitely got'em more revenue without having to do anything different than what happens at least 1 year in this part.

If it were designed properly it would become an idea for improvement.

    David.

Playing for nothing seems to be harder and harder.  How many credits have you gotten?

The surveys don't ever seem to work for me.  Just curious what people are doing to get credits.  I'm at level 32 and the full set of R11s look nice.  I'm just trying to figure out how to finance them :).

    Hi All,

I must say I agree with the idea of a paid membership, especially with all the recent discussion re the Topgolf amalgamation.

I would be more than happy to pay $10 - $20 - $50 per year membership for the privilege of playing WGT - its a no brainer for me. If it came in tomorrow I wouldn't hesitate, I'd be the first to pay.

Just how it would be set up, well that could be organised later, but I'm all for it. Also - you would still have to pay for your clubs, as is currently the practice.

Its cheap at half the price - how many registered players are there? It would certainly raise a few bucks for WGT and help continue to develop the game.

Lets face it - where else are we going to go?? There is nothing else on line to match this golf experience - NOTHING !!

Hey - I pay $12 / month for Spotify !! So $50 / year for WGT is not a problem. What else do we all pay subscriptions for ?? and what other pastimes / hobbies do we all have that cost money - and a lot more than a WGT subscription thats for sure.

Business these days is tough - economies all around the world are struggling, businesses are finding it increasingly difficult to survive, an annual subscription would certainly help keep their heads above the rising sea levels !!.

Please dont all jump down my throat at once - just my thoughts thats all.

I would be very sad to see WGT fold - very very sad indeed.

    Happy Hittin

    Cheers

    Doug
