People seem to get hung up thinking that the players are WGT's customers. We have no idea who the customers are, but my guess would be that the true customers are the advertisers. The WGT carries a great number of "members" who have not been on the site for years for a very good reason, and it is not the money these "members" are giving to WGT. When someone is able to point to membership roles and tell advertisers that their message will reach millions of WGT golfers you can guess that these companies will spend large sums to reach those members. i would suspect that the business model that WGT adopted had little dependence on money brought in by members, but did work from the belief that entertainment, like broadcast television, is paid for by advertisers. Member's dollars are the gravy, not the bread and butter.

I have never spent a penny out of pocket to play this game nor would I .

Gee that is something. Does doing videos, the carousel(?) and counting(?) ever feel like work since it takes your time just like a job or labor for hire would except you are being paid credits you can only spend here instead of being paid money with the freedom to spend anywhere? Do you feel cheap or like a skinflint being fooled like you are ? Just wondering. After all, it seems like you enjoy playing too when you have the time.

The game takes no more of my time than watching tv does . Nor does it take any more of my time than reading and responding in the forums .No I dont feel cheap because I wont waste money . Your problem SP is that you dont really value money because you never had to really work to earn it . Your daddy gave you yours so you never had to start your adult life with nothing .

So my question to you SP is dont you feel like an absolute idiot spending and wasting real money to play a make believe game ? After all the hard work that your father did to give you a head start in life the best you can do is piss it away playing a virtual golf game . Just wondering and yes I do enjoy playing the game . I have plenty of time to do so and I dont have to waste money to do it either .

Good for you Lonnie. I purposely wrote my post to you in a snide manner in hopes it would extract the true motivational nature of your successful credit endeavor, and I believe it did. The simple truth is that I admire the fact that you found the credit key  that anyone here, that gripes about the cost, should follow. I salute you and add that if my situation were different, I too would be using that key.

I must say that it is true I received an 18th B-Day starter amount, I respected it greatly. I got lucky however by risking most of it on gold in 2006 obtaining 500 ounces, soon I was able by timing and luck to go heavy on Apple followed by Google followed by Facebook. All self chosen and then responding brilliant enough to provide a 15 fold return. I am, however, frugal by nature and upbringing.

    Are we cool ?

SP we will always be cool . I have always had the utmost respect for you as not only a player but more so as a person and human being . Earning credits is an easy thing I do however feel for the players outside of the US market and cant do the same .

I hope that you are feeling better and that you are blessed with a full healing and recovery . Take care love and remember never swing with your eyes closed . :-)

Not really, they could boast as much as they want regarding how many players there are, but advertisers want to see how many unique visitors they have - that will largely determine the price.

Add to that, with so many players blocking ads, I do wonder how lucrative the advertisers are for the game and the dependence is on both advertisers revenue and players spend rather than one or the other.

As for paying or not paying - I have no choice but to pay if I want to continue playing with decent balls. All I can get is 7 carousel views per day (when it works - I don't even bother trying), and on a good day an additional 1-2 credit video to watch. Needless to say, to earn enough credits for a sleeve of Nikes is just not viable. No surveys......and I will not sell my soul or risk spam or virus in the supposedly free credit offers.

Therefore I am happy to pay for my credits, as the game brings enjoyment, and is pretty cheap compared to most forms of entertainment.

But then again, I can afford to and add to that, I simply do not have an hour I can fritter away to earn those "free" credits, and IMO it is certainly not worth it for the return on that time as expressed in a rate per hour. Therefore if I was eligible to earn credits in this manner, I still wouldn't. If I suddenly had more free time, then I probably would...well maybe.

The great thing is we do have choices, and depending on where we live this will be playing with lower level equipment or top equipment. No doubt players in the US and parts of Europe can do much better in terms of the credit offers but anyone can play and still derive enjoyment from the game.

Avoid the R11's when you are ready, they are very unforgiving I sold mine and bought the Nike Vapor and they are 1000% better

Playing for nothing seems to be harder and harder.  How many credits have you gotten?

The surveys don't ever seem to work for me.  Just curious what people are doing to get credits.  I'm at level 32 and the full set of R11s look nice.  I'm just trying to figure out how to finance them :).

Alanti, you are exactly on point. I have tried to explain the same thing. What in life is truly "free"?  I often use the example that even feeding ducks costs the odd loaf of bread.

Doing endless surveys is expending a resource far more valuable than a few dollars. Time cannot be replaced...and the frailer one becomes, due to age or illness, the more cherished time becomes.

I also agree with the OP on his thoughts about who the wgt customers are. One of the Ford executives apparently opined, that Ford's target audience was not the people who buy their cars, but the people who buy their stock.
