Oh, don't throw in the towel yet, Lisa! Especially if it's Ryder Cup team qualification you're after.

I agree that my lead for the Legend tier credits standing is looking hard to beat without winning a couple of the remaining tourneys, but there's still lots to play for for a Ryder Cup team place.

I deliberately created several ways for players to make the team, and if you do go up to TL before the end of the Tour you'll have the chance to earn more credits for a similar placing (albeit against stronger players), and have easier Wind conditions in which to try and go lower relative to par.

Right now, you're only 40-odd credits behind the qualifying ROW players in the Best9Credits standings, and only 3 shots behind the qualifying number in the Best9Scores Relative to Par.

And, also don't forget, we will need alternates for the Ryder Cup event, and there'll be Captain's Picks as well. And I'm fairly certain that captains will be more inclined to pick players who've shown commitment to the Tour tourneys!

Finally, thanks for the thanks. You're very welcome!

Aaah, I thought if you moved up it was over.

Glad you're still battling away to make the team, Lisa...

... the bad news for you, and several others in contention for the ROW team, is that niqueclyde has thrown his name in the hat intending to try and qualify, making yet another strong ROW player amongst the pool.

The Ryder Cup-specific thread will have the latest team qualification standings very shortly...

But to keep this thread on topic, here is an update based on the full results now in for wk21's tourney at Royal St. George's:

At the top, this was a week of tie-breakers: in TL tier, jsweetcr came back sweetly after missing much of the tour to shoot a 59, matched by Wontonamo, but both lost out on the tie-breaker to fmagnets, who thus records his 3rd victory in the tour (to go with 2 second places, and a 3rd). Mags has now opened up quite a lead over Konrad in the TL standings, and one feels it will take something special to catch him now.

In Legend tier, having won the tiebreaker the week before, Corwyn got the other side of the coin in wk21, losing out to Duffputt. Corwyn was left to rue two bad bogeys (driving into the fairway bunker on #8, and an early-click aggressive line shot on #10 finding nasty trouble). He came down the stretch up against the clock, but still keeping in touch, and would have had the win if this 13ft putt had found the cup on the last; Corwyn now has 4 second place finishes.

With just 3 events left, Ryder Cup qualification standings are still very close. Visit this thread to see the current situation for both Team USA and Team ROW in terms of which players among those declaring themselves as candidates are on track to qualify.

To see all the details view the spreadsheet, but for those who can't access the new Google Sheets, here are some snapshots of some of the Standings sheets here in the thread (note that they're only the top 35+ places, just what fits on my screen).

I'm not going to say I've been taking it easy on you all, but I will say that this is the first week I've used my good balls instead of the free virtual tour balls.

I figured 1, 9, 10, and 18 would be the hardest holes on the course... and I somehow managed to birdie all four. The only blip was on 12 where I hit my PW approach late and found a red lie in the second greenside bunker, then blasted out to 30 feet and missed the putt. But I made up for it with 30-footers on 15 and 17, so I can't complain.

(Now that I've posted this, I fully expect Corwyn to shoot a 56.)

Ha! Not likely... My best ever 18 at Oakie is 60 I think (and that was flat lies, and probably with some nice slow greens).

I'll try my best tomorrow but I reckon your score is pretty safe mm.

A 60 in those conditions is just fantastic shooting, and I'm stunned to see all those birdies on the most difficult holes (and to shoot -10 while +1 on the par 5s, and only -1 on the par 3s, and missing out on #5, #11, and #14 as well is extraordinary).

It does sound like you've been going easy on the rest of us all these weeks, lol! Seems like a long-overdue win might be yours (... and could also guarantee you a place on the US Ryder Cup team).

    Thanks for sharing!

    Well, I tried mm!

I was actually -9 coming down the 18th and seeking birdie to tie you, but had an awful late click on approach to find a bunker and couldn't save par from there...

Longest putt made, a paltry 8.3ft, but several other good chances slid by.

I made my birdies on all the 'easy' holes though, lol... in fact, our best ball would have been a very sweet -17!

Tee to green, like last week, I was playing very well indeed for most of the round; I had birdie putts inside 10 feet on the first 7 holes and 9 of the first 10 (all but #8), including a tap-in on #9. But my par 3 approaches kept leaving short curlers of the type that I'm worst at. My approach at 11 was short and in the bunker, and I clicked way early at 14 and left a 30 foot putt.

By the way, I think UEL actually makes short bunkers shots much easier; that shot at 11, with the 8 foot lip on the bunker and only 6 yards of green, would have been nearly impossible to keep within 10 feet. But with the upslope lie I had, I was able to stop it quickly and trickle it up to about 3 feet.

I certainly think it will, bk!

Super score of 57 at Cabo. If it holds for a win, you would jump perhaps 6 places in the Ryder Cup Team USA credit standings and secure a team place, and even if it's just 2nd or 3rd, you should leapfrog quite a few contenders.

This just goes to show, folks, that a win even at this late stage, could be a ticket to the Ryder Cup!
