the good old days

  As i sit here today and play a few rounds (not well at all) i find myself thinking of the good old days.

  Remember when we all had the G10 irons and a driver that flew 260 and a putter that had a ridiculously fast meter. The balls we used were the WGT balls that had little spin and distance.

  Well i miss those days, today if i don't birdie 14 holes or more i find the round to be a let down. Back then if you broke 60 you had a smile on your face all day long. You couldn't hold many of the greens and the game was legitimately challenging.

  Just like in the real game the technology has somewhat ruined the game i feel. I am beginning to feel like a lot of the players that have left. I just don't seem to enjoy it anymore. Its good to go out and play an alt with a few buds from time to time, but playing RG's where  25,26 or 53,54 are needed to be near the top seems silly.

  The bigger tournies are unlimited at least for the first round and i really get tired of playing the same track to get a low 50's score to be competitive. I enjoy competition but this repetitive play just seems to be boring me to death.

  It's unfortunate but with the amount of time it takes for new courses and good changes in the game like new  play formats etc. the game is losing my interest.

  Would be nice to go back in time and try to find a way to post a decent score when the game was much tougher.

  wgt could make one freeball tourney only  for who like this type off gameplay.

  then you all get a fair chanche.

  It's that way for me still lol.  It took me all this time and good equipment to finally get to the level of the "elite" players when they where using the equipment of the old days that you are referring to.  ;-)

  His point is not about having a fair chance, it's about the game keeping his interest level up. Back in the time he's referring to, getting that 60 was a serious achievement. Today that 60 takes a meh effort and is almost too easy/automatic for a lot of players that remember how hard that 60 was to get.

  A crazy idea but would be fun to see-WGT knocks 10-20% off the club distances across the board. Keep the precision and forgiveness, just shorten the clubs.  :-)

  I suppose one would have to have gone through it to understand it. I'm glad I did. It was a pure competition for all. No matter who it was, if you were out driven, it was by maybe three yards. Birdies were gold and eagles only came with fairway shots. When BPB opened with the 1st US Open, fairways were hard to even reach as with most greens. Many here developed amazing short games then to survive. Shoot 68 and you qualified for that Open. It was truly fun.

  LOL.....yes Lily....those were the days. 4 or 5 under was a great score.....not so much anymore. If you can't birdie them all anymore your pretty much average......seems like a lot of moons ago you had to scramble your butt off to make birdies.

  I agree back in 2009 before all the cheats and cheaters, the game was awesome and i actually looked forward to getting off work and going home to play wgt. 5 years later and i wish i didnt love golf, that way i could cut wgt out of my life entirely. The game play and customer service have both gone to the crapper , why you ask ???? GREED, As i have said before and will say again, GREED KILLS EVERYTHING IT TOUCHES, and wgt your greed has killed the enjoyment i used to have with your product, now i would love to fly to San Fran and file a fraud lawsuit against you lol .............................

  Last second for me as well brother Blue.

   Here's another good example of that period. The first community sponsored tournament set up by nivlac.  'The North America Challenge'  Scores in the low 60's with basically starter clubs was amazing.
