Here's another good example of that period. The first community sponsored tournament set up by nivlac.  'The North America Challenge'  Scores in the low 60's with basically starter clubs was amazing.

You know it Sal! That was so much fun, so fun! I had forgotton. Thanks! Just to look down that list of players is bitter-sweet. Most are gone. Some of us still here. There are many names on that roster that could put the fear of God in you...we are lucky, yes?

Back in the good old days I was an above average player, as a Master I could hold my own against a TM and even some Legends. I made Legend, I guess just because of the amount of rounds I played and a lucky 28 I shot at Kia. I could not play the average Master today and stand a chance. The game has gotten away from me. I don't have the computer skills or the need to circumvent this fun game for personal look at me whoops and wows. I started playing here for the fun and friendships. Way too many people have taken it way beyond the fun, and this is why the game is what it is today. WGT listened to the Elite players who wanted more challenge and competition and here we are. If you can't shoot 12-14 under par every 9 hole round you may as well just play with yourself. It's what it is and it is only for a select group of players. Enjoy the game, make some good friends and have fun. Unless you are one of the players capable of making all birds and 3 eagles per round, stay out of the tourneys. You don't stand a chance. Just have fun. Anybody who wants to argue with this comment bring it on, I have more to say if necessary.

I recruited you for our west  coast team.   Stats never lie and you proved me right.   Much respect.

    Sal.

When BPB opened with the 1st US Open, fairways were hard to even reach as with most greens. Many here developed amazing short games then to survive. Shoot 68 and you qualified for that Open. It was truly fun.

    I shot a 69

I likely shot twice that!  I don't remember though.  I joined WGT on 6/21/09, the last day of qualifying for the 2009 VUSO.  So not knowing any better, I played it.  First day on WGT, starter clubs and balls, jumped on to BPB. LOL

    I finished in 7,973rd place.

Wow Sal......that's cool....look at them scores. That's when the game was far more realistic. Amazing how many of those names are gone.

That's what I am talking about ...the good old days.

That is one for the books! LOL...Brand new, starter everything, BPB back tees, US Open conditions, paying strict attention to the "caddie" selections, wondering what the grid-lines do and the colors and moving beads mean...amazing... it is a tribute to you and the fact you are still here...seeing players with 68 averages and thinking "no way" "that's impossible!" and lingering slowly along thinking everyone is rated a hack and wondering why only to discover the amateur tier and people with averages lower than 68. Gosh, what fun times.

Amen! I made it on the last day LOL. Was unheard of then.

I had a 70 the last night to get in. #10 was tough to reach and footpath was rough too.

Found old link from my first tourney. One round single play 20.00 entry bang bang over.

Hey Gang, several of us are trying to re-live some good old days by playing in Unlimited Free Tourneys with Starter Clubs and posting our scorecards and stats for the others to see and try to beat.. It's a brutal kick in reality just how hard it used to be to simply make some pars and feel pretty good about ourselves. That beginning time when everything had a sense of discovery can be re-lived by experienced players by clubbing back to the little sticks and giving it a go. It will test your patience a heck of a lot but it's a lot of fun knocking around. Anyone with a saturated average has nothing to worry about and there's no ball usage either.

HERE IS THE THREAD. Check it out and give it a try. It's more fun than just remembering times gone by and wishing you could re-live them. You actually can.. :)))

Dang, Fuz. That is cool...and pretty old. I was checking out who played and I think you are the only one left...last man standing. I am startled to see how many fingerprints can still be brought to light. Andyson sent me an old 2010 blabberfest between ghettocop and myself from the forums...I couldn't believe how naughty I once was...LOL
