H everyone. I would like to take this opportunity of relating a disturbing occurrence that I experienced yesterday whilst playing an Alternate shot game.

I was accused by one of the opponents of being a sandbagger and cheat. I can only assume this accusation was based n the fact they were being outplayed and losing!

In response to this, would lie to point out that I am a silver surfer, long past pensionable age and cannot for the life of me see what I would gain by cheating, after all there is only pride at stake! I'm too long in the tooth to bother about that!!

If I understand correctly, sandbagging is higher capability players playing at lower tiers in order to gain advantages This assumption, I surmise, was based solely on the fact that I had been a WGT member since 2011 and was only a Tour Pro.

In my 'defence' I would like to set the record straight. Yes, I started WGT in 2011 on a friends recommendation, played a few solo rounds but found the game a total frustration particularly the putting. I could easily rack up the maximum total of putts at each hole! Finally I decided enough was enough and stopped but retained my account!

In September 2013, out of the blue, received an email from WGT offering 3 free balls if  I wished to start playing again. I thought OK, give it another try. After playing for approx. 170 consecutive days, putting in many hours of practice, together with Matchplay and Alternate shot games, my perseverance paid off and I progressed from Hack to Tour Pro level 82. Along the way I did manage to invest in new items of equipment, these have been an asset.

I have no control over what WGT thinks my playing tier should be and if people think I cheat because I play better than them, then TOUGH. I can assure you that I do not go out of my way to falsify my playing average. Every sport has its whingers, idiots and morons. I play this game for enjoyment, to play people of different standards, 'meet' overseas players and yes try to win but NOT a any cost.

I only see sour grapes and a sore loser in this situation and would welcome comments from other players who have experienced similar.

    Hi

As you can imagine, internet is same everywhere, so people think they can hide behind the 'curtain' and throw out the insults and accusations. Don't take it personally and go out and have fun :)

As bad as I am at this game, when I was a TM(I had just gotten to the level)  I was bored and all my friends were offline.  So, I did one of those random opponent games in blitz...I usually do descent in blitz as I am not too accurate and I play that game just to try and improve my iron game.

When I did the random opponent, it sent me a Legend to play....after about 4 holes of me throwing darts for a change...this Legend went into a serious rant that used up nearly 2 of his clock shots on the 5th hole...it caught me off guard and I hit one about 40 yds from the pin....I re-grouped on the next hole, hoping his little tirade was over, but, all it did was add fuel to the fire with him....he proceeded to use some very colorful metaphors about me and my family tree and quit the game.  I'm a very hit and miss golfer in here...sometimes I can hit  with the best, and other times I hit like a newbie. I just chalked it up to him having a bad day, because you never know why a person might act like that.

That was a slightly bizarre and grammatically incorrect statement, Icon. Have you been drinking again or have you out-sourced yourself to another company?

    Hi owd

    Seriously?

I have been excoriated here for being a crybaby.

    But I'm a girl.

    What's your excuse?

As long as you know that you are an honest player , you have nothing to explain . According to some players , every ones a cheat that can beat them . Dont let the cry babies gt next to you . Also , whats excoriated mean ? Must be an aussie thing . Folks down under talk funny . :-)

There is a flip-side to it. People ask me how in the world I made Legend with my game.

That's exactly what it is. Best defense there is to absolutely own the guy and keep on having one of your good games. Engage him if you want but that usually deteriorates. Ignore him, usually really gets their goat.  ;-)
