After racking my brain over this burning topic that has my blood boiling, I can think of only two advantages that justify the implementation of the new levels (not counting the fact that now the in-game top left corner looks better -- more elegant and less obtrusive -- than before, when the soliciting word CREDITS was constantly in our faces).
1) The unethical sandbaggers are partly discouraged from opening other accounts to compete at a lower level than their actual ability, since the acquisition of good equipment is now like pulling teeth with a pair of tweezers while time flows in slow motion like molasses.
2) Players are motivated to play a lot of complete rounds in order to earn the right to buy good equipment. And I mean A LOT, as past the mid-twenties, levels advance ever so slowly, enough to put an insomniac permanently to sleep.
Besides that, I am sorry to say, WGT, whose genius I have praised more than once before, the new system of levels is a large and painful hemerrhoid on my golfer's ass.
