    suncity28:

Putter pal you mean the putter pal you buy from the pro shop ? 500 hits for 200c , all it is is a tap measure along the power bar does not hit the putt for you or line the putt up.

If it was a form of cheating they would not sell it in the first place and is allowed in all formats of the game.

Yep, that's the one I'm speaking of, and if it's not considered cheating to have 1/3 of your shot process taken care of, and that you don't need to worry about, even if you pay for it, what is it considered? The one on the video game didn't sink all putts either, but if I could pay a pro to golf with me and all he did was ensure that my putts were hit at the right speed, I'm guessing I'd make a few more than usual.

But, I'm not going to debate something that WGT considers fair in all formats. I mean, I seriously doubt the 500 hits for 200 credits was a part of the decision making on if it should be allowed or not, as any business would approach a product they sell.

However, if the Putter Pal helps putting in absolutely no way at all, why do people buy it? I thought they buy them because they are a good tool for training muscle memory for putts in this game. But, since I have no interest in a shot assistant I have never read the full description of either of the ones they sell. So, I'm sure you know more about what it does than I do.

I just wish when I played baseball all those years they had something that made just one part of hitting something you didn't have to give much, if any, thought to.

I guess that putting a 'wink' at the end of a comment makes using an insult towards a person a way to show respect?

If this thread is about showing respect towards others, how is a discussion, on what I consider to be a possible way to get an unfair advantage in a match for credits, off-topic? My initial post on the subject was written, in all sincerity, as a question on a matter that could be considered cheating by many WGT players, and one I did not have the answer to. And, if it turned out that the majority of players do consider it cheating, what is more dis-respectful than cheating someone out of their money?

If you want to talk about showing respect, we can discuss 3 replies made to my legitimate and innocent question. I didn't accuse anyone of cheating, I simply gave my opinion on the program's that can be used to make the most important shot in golf a little easier for a player, if being used in a match where credits are won and lost.

I also made it clear that I wouldn't debate it if WGT has deemed it fair-play. I happen to believe that a simple & respectful reply to my 1st post on the topic would have been easy to write, and I know it would have been the way to go to get anyone to drop the subject. But, sarcastic or snide remarks to a person's suggestion/question meant only to offer a possibility and to learn more about the game, will normally be met with the same sarcasm.

None of which displays a respectful attitude, nor does it promote the same. So, my apologies for asking a question and giving information I have, that was meant to address an issue that is a concern for many players here.

Lastly, if this whole thread is meant to be sarcastic on the topic of respect towards others, then some thought should go into a new title for it. And, if that is the actual reason for it I can definitely provide plenty of participation in it.

    Putter Pal

Fine tune your putting with the WGT Putter Pal. When you're putting, you'll see a ruler below the swing meter with increments every 10% and at 25%, 50% and 75%, so you can more accurately set the power of your putts.

I'm still new here but that sounds like it gives an advantage to me. But, if it's allowed I'll only have a problem with it if I find out a player is using one in a challenge skins game with my credits at stake. Even then, I won't be dis-respectful about it, I just won't play them any longer.

Last I'll say about it if someone has enough respect to take a few minutes for a reply that just explains to me how or why I'm off-topic here.

Respecting the topic of the thread counts and your thoughts are contrary to that. Paul humorously pointed that out with the graphic but you apparently missed the meaning. Nobody's dissing what you say, it's just not appropriate for this thread.

(Incidentally and equally off topic, that Putter Pal is nowhere near a cheat device, it's simply hashmarks on the meter that save you the trouble of making your own out of a ruler or piece of tape, something almost everybody has.)

    Back to respect.  :-)

Oh my, yes! From Aretha Franklin to Rodney Dangerfield...but does it have a tangible aspect?

Thank you, YankeeJim. Had I been given a reply saying simply that, as opposed to remarks, pictures, etc. that you have to assign your own meaning to, this would have ended then.

It's the one big problem I've always had with email, text, or posts on a forum. Often, someone's meaning or intent is misinterpreted by the reader and, as I'm sure we've all seen, things can happen or be said that never would have, had there been no misunderstanding.

I got no problems taking or giving BS with people, I actually enjoy it very much, but when you don't know the meaning, or get the joke, behind something said or posted, that's not easy to do. You need to be in on something, especially when directed at you, in order to give it back in good nature.

And, to show I'm a man of my word, even though I do have a comment on something said about the Pal, I'll save it for another time and proper place.

    Thanks Again.
