I'd always assumed that the distance shown from tee to pin was "accurate", however, having just looked at a green in reverse (not something I would normally do for a par 4 tee shot)  it transpires that the pin is actually 296yds, not the 288yds as stated.

288yds puts you nicely in the bunker, or bouncing back down the slope of the green - ie where I usually end up here!

    Bug? Error? Lies?

This is where you gain by making notes. Just like on real courses not all holes are the exact length shown.I find that 5 and 14 on St Andrews are shorter than stated and most on Congressional are a bit longer. Of course it depends on what clubs and balls you are using.

Hover your cursor over the dot (blue if you initiated the game) that represents your ball on the mini-map on the right.

On the tee or anywhere else on the hole, that will display the distance to the hole.

On a closer look, OLY seemingly has different rules for distance indications than the former courses. Here (and at MER) the scorecard yardages look like "center green", differing more or less from the pin distances.

For #7 in discussion here, the scorecard length is just before the ridge on the green. Others with pin on the green front like #18 show 305 yds (pin from red) and 318 (scorecard).

Only real surprise is #2 from red tees (single hole play).

Pin distance is correct with 369 but scorecard length is only 339 yds. This doesn't fit because the front edge of the green is at about 350 yds beeline (see reverse green cam), add some dogleg deviation.

Similar from white tees: pin at 377, scorecard length = 361 = front of green.

    Gotcha, WGT!
