    Steve2golf:
Especially at 7 bucks a pop. I agree with what someone said somewhere else, they are likely there mostly to make the other balls look like a bargain.

Exactly! That is classic pricing strategy--to create a "gold-plated" version that is not necessarily intended to sell but push customers toward a middle ground, which we are now to believe is something like $3 a sleeve for virtual balls.

    Steve2golf:
    they are fully mapped, charted

Guess that is another issue - whether you have to take such a mathematical approach to everything in order to succeed. I admit I don't have the patience for it except for a quick mental calculation and maybe jogging the memory a bit. Kind of like in poker, the form we always used to enjoy was 3-card draw, with no showing and plenty of room to bluff, but now it has all turned into Texas high-low this and that which is all reduced to math and odds. Seems like too much work for relaxation!

No, but you should now the ball and how far it goes with the intended spin and have some idea of what it will roll out to. This way you also know if it is not doing as intended and you should move on to another till it does again. Just my stategy as strange as it may be, but it helps me.

I still remeber where a 28 at RSG front 9 assigned a likely first or second place, right now it will be good maybe for a 4 to 10 place and only if there a lot of 28 you can dust off your showcase for some crystal or diamond trophy.

    Yes, good point.

Most of my career earnings were back in the good old days when I was winning R/Go's. Beth with scores of 29/30.  Now those scores will be lucky to get any credits back...lol Shooting a 63 on Cong and getting top10.

Beth now a 27 might get you a top10 finish.

I've stopped playing the R/Go's now as I have no chance to shoot the low 20/50's

Damn right Roger, but sometimes neither the half entered players withdraw so you will have to share the 11th place with 10 dudes which score like you a great 27. That's could be funny and frustrating at the same times.

By the way, have a good Easter Days mates.

    David.

    A great thread David.

Whilst I am not really qualified to comment on Tour Legends as I am only a Tour Pro (well playing like one) I do not  think one can read to much into the averages at any tier as once saturation is reached, the average only can go down.

However to make TL you must have played with a certain amount of skill - and virtue of the "average" you have proven this.

I have played with quite a few TL's - the top ones all have one thing in common - they put brilliantly. Knowing your distances, spin, shot choice and where to play the approach to all helps but things still go wrong for the best, whether it is a WTF shot, meter issue etc, and draining those 20-30 footers consistently make the difference IMO.

For me the key to this game is not your tier or average, but how much enjoyment you get from it. One day I may join the club and bring the TL status into disrepute, but I will  guarantee that I will continue to have fun and enjoy this game regardless of my average.

I put myself in the  TOTAL DISGRACE to the title of Tour Legend. Putting is my downfall , I am just not gifted with the site to see the line, but I keep on trying. So many people have tried to help me, and I thank them all.

When I do find the handshake Andy I will pass it along.

You all are looking for TL secrets.  I am searching for secrets of the Legends.  I can 3 putt a 4 footer with no break.  Can't ding the broad side of a barn.  Nevertheless, one thing I did pick up here is that steve2golf said that balls change how they act.  I have seen ebbs and flows amongst players in my CC as well as with my own game.  One week they are cleaning up and the next week or even for a month they struggle and I can personally attest to it with my play.  Maybe the ball does fluctuates or maybe there are cycles to how you will shoot predetermined to some degree.  I don't blame anyone but myself for being a hack legend but it seems sometimes good scores just come effortlessly and then other times I can try and try and they just don't come.

Are you Tour Legends all using the fanciest equipment and the most expensive balls? Do you ding most all of your shots (that you plan to ding)?

At this point I'm going to discuss the Nike 90 balls, not a rant, but an observation: I have not been able to play these as of yet, every once in a while I zip over to kia 1 and test the 4 iron to see if there was an update to the ball. Also I will throw it on the tee occasionally to see if anything has changed. I suppose it can't change now, to late for that.I burned about 6 of them mapping them as well, so I have given them a good go.

IMHO 1 pixel of spin and 1 pixel of power has a far to great and dramatic result, resulting in some cases of 11 or more yards is to much IMHO. These balls take to much effort and time to play. Needing the ability to set the spin to 1 pixel of accuracy is a pain in the a$ and takes the fun away from the game and even then consistency is just not there. So "why bother" is often my conclusion. Especially at 7 bucks a pop. I agree with what someone said somewhere else, they are likely there mostly to make the other balls look like a bargain.

I would play a WGT ball, if I found a tight consistency, the key here for me, when selecting a ball for my current rotation, I look for the tightest consistency and will go with that ball. This is something WGT does not realise very well for the Nike 90 at the higher level. They would sell well and better had they a tight consistency, but to date, for me, they have not yet performed better then any other ball here on a consistency basis.

I also know some others have all but given up on them as well.

Yep.  I still have two of them in my bag with no intention of ever using them.  But on that mapping of the lvl 81 Nikes...  I have a good idea where they will go but am always looking for an edge.  Help a brother out?
