Probably too late to try this but....

I remember last year WGT looking into the possibility of hosting a UEL Open too.

We are now a large amount (compare to 2013) of UEL players that would love to see a Virtual UEL Us Open too.

    Any comment WGT?

    Regards, Eric

that would be great, i played pinehurst on uneven lies and its a lot of fun, there is a good mix of hard and easy holes, playing the Virtual us open on uneven lies would keep the scores more realistic and just like the USGA would want.

Wgt need to give the people who play uneven lies more options to play them, we need more choice

It won't be called that but I am hoping to prepare something special with extra hard settings/green speeds... I don't have the details yet and it's likely wont happen til late July/August.

My goal is to have overpar win :)

Are there plans for the VUSO winner to shoot over par as well?

why make it extra hard, championship greens and moderate or high wind would be enough for uneven lies, just make it like a normal high end wgt tournament but on uneven lies.

you dont need to make it crazy hard, its tough enough with uneven lies, low wind and tournament greens.

Pines 2 course is very easy but the egg shaped greens make the trick!. Difficult approaches with long irons are just tough.

You make those greens more sleeky than champ speed, it might just simply impossible to land on green but with chips, flops & pitches. Super slow greens? :-( I hate them & find them boring.

Going back to the UEL Open, you do not need to give good prizes, a couple of thousand credits or a couple of sleeves would do, the main thing is to give us the chance to compete in the Us Open with uneven lies.....c'mon, you can do it guys!!!!

+1 for a real VUSO equivalent with UEL, or at the very least a high-profile WGT Nation UEL event as we had last year with Merion.

The VUSO is commonly regarded here on WGT as the premier test of the best players. The purpose IMO should be to find out who can cope with the closest approximation of US Open conditions. It's baffling to me why Uneven Lies has not already become part of that test, as it places a real premium on finding fairways and greens.

But, if UEL is kept out of such a top-level tournament (and let's be honest, it's got to be about ball use and maximum participation rather than setting the most difficult challenge), please don't further marginalize UEL tourneys by associating them only with crazy green speeds etc.

Yes, those crazy conditions tourneys are fun... but UEL isn't crazy. It's how the game should be, in many people's opinion here. Even if it's not entirely realistic (which is debatable), it's far more realistic than getting a perfect flat lie on every fairway, every patch of rough, and every bunker.

Icon, if you want an event @ Pinehurst where over par might win, why not make it a Starter Clubs-only event. You now have the capacity to set up restricted equipment events, and there's a regular call from the community to have level-playing field competitions. Pinehurst is actually playable from the tips with starters, so you could even have a 4-round event using each set of tees for one of the rounds.

Ideally, it would be starter balls required too, so everyone was using the same gear, but another alternative (which would bring in some ball income to WGT) is to require use of the sponsor's Lexus ball (with its very limited attributes). You could provide a few balls free on tournament entry so everyone could play the event without necessarily having to buy any, and modify the number of rounds to make it work, e.g. 3 round event, 1st round unlimited. Anyone wanting to improve their 1st round score would have the option to purchase more balls.

I don't think you guys will ever get it - the initial call for UELs was to make the scoring more realistic - now as some of the top players have staryed playing them there is only a couple of shots difference, so now a comp with starter clubs..........

If the 100 or so regular UEL players wish to have an UEL Open please feel free to run it yourselves but please stop making out that there is a massive groundswell for this.
