I can't comment on percentage payouts, makes my brain hurt...

But if WGT (as mentioned above) decreased the rake, and spread it out so even 40th place got some credits back, then (again as mentioned before) more players would complete a round...more ball hits, more revenue.

Dazza makes a great point...win a RG and the player get's less than WGT makes...he thing, only a few (compared to the many that play RG's) will ever earn enough to cash the credits in for tangible items...I think the majority of us-well me anyways- spend my credits in the ProShop for balls.

Bottom line if more feel thery have a chance, more will play...well, maybe not bottom line, but my opinion.

Probably less than half the RGs have 40 people post a score, and the ones that do quit usually don't do it because they aren't going to cash, they do it out of frustration or are too embarrassed to post a poor score.  I think more people would play RGs if positions 11-15 saw a profit as those positions are typically only a few strokes higher than the winning score with skill margins being thin in todays dart throwing era on WGT.

    edit:

Dug up the results of some really old RGs from when they first started when 20% rake was reasonable at the time due to low ball cost and the relative skill level of the site as a whole.  As you can see the score distribution is a lot different than today.  Might not want to click the links while playing as they log me out for some reason.

    Example 1

    Example 2

    Example 3

I was amazed today after completing a hundred credits rg and hit a 29 only to receive 50 credits back now unless I can muster a 26 is it really worth it? I have watched bolloxs videos countless times that he has kindly posted on youtube which has improved my game but not to his or the other elites standards. Can only keep having a crack. btw thanx bollox for the great vids

You entered an open RG, and everyone that beat you is a Tour Legend. A 29 in the current Legend Bethpage F9 RG (with high wind instead of low) will double your money more often than not.

I would like to say #3.

The reason I would choose this is I think more people would play. As it is I think most people avoid them because they do not want to lose credits, credits that are pretty difficult to earn unless you are in the top %5 percent. I have been on the legend tier for a year and I have put a lot of time into practicing over that year. When I play say a weekly tournament and finish around 45 out of, I dont know...2,000 or better entrants, I earn maybe 10 credits at best. So its difficult to put out 200 credits for a ready go when there's a good chance I will lose credits.

I'm sure WGT is aware that not many people play ready go's and this is their way of fixing the problem. The easiest way to tell not many people play them is when you enter a ready go and it takes 12-24 hours for 50 people to enter the tournament so you can see where you placed.

Moral of the story is if there was a better chance I would at least break even when I don't have a record breaking round I would play a lot more ready go tournaments.

logged me out as well, but I see your point....I also agrre with 11-15 making a profit (assume you mean on entry fee)...would keep many coming back.

BTW, I did look long enough at the first link, and see Icon was in 3rd on the list......and here we thought he was good back in the day;)

Little off topic I guess: I wouldn't mind seeing the number of entrants cut in half as well as the time limit per rg. I have no decent ideas about rake etc., but it is a shame how these days it is common to have a five way tie for first, a five way tie for second......

Oh well, never played many rg's anyhow:)

i suggest to give it all (100% for those in doubt) to the worst score and leave the best scores with just the satisfaction of posting a good round
