I've made my points about the rake and the payout so I won't duplicate them.
However I do want to address the gambling side of it. First since you are playing for credits that can't be redeemed as real money, it technically isn't gambling. I was against the high end tournaments, thought that they should be limited to at most a 500 credit event so that it doesn't seem like real gambling.
After a while I came to the conclusion that if you don't want to gamble in these tournaments or are against gambling, it's pretty simple just don't play in them. Some as complaining about how much the site costs you, play and clubs are free you don't have to have new and costly clubs.
WGT has to bring in revenue to operate, the amount they charge is based upon what the market will bear. If you don't buy the high priced items, they will lower the price. If you don't play the 20% rake tournaments they will change the rake. It's a free market and the customers control it.
I get your point sir some guys don't want high stakes but if they are there no one's forcing hand to enter them, over x-mas there was a few and they filled daily even the 2k one.So there is a market for them.I seen the high stakes as the top players trying to beat other and juggling the credits between thereselves,I doubt anyone who couldn't afford to play them entered them.you look down the leaderboard and there was some 70+ or even 80+ scores from lower level players who must be paying in and getting nothing back
At the time there was a 2k 1k i think a 1k ctth two 500k rg's and i'd probably just enter those daily, without the high stakes now the top players are playing 100 in 200 rg's and pushing lower players out of spots in them, without high stakes WGT may of stemmed the amount of the top players winning credits because they don't pay into the system but pushing the lower players to not bother playing in them
End of the day i've played 1000's of games i'm not a golfer at all, never played. But what keeps me coming back is that the games is different everyday nothing here is perfect and one of the great things is this is probably the only game iv'e played where the customer is always wrong
If WGT ever gets the game all right ,no meter stutter no shots 10 yards short or over- 5ft putts straight dinged and miss, would i keep playing or move onto another game that's predictable
