Why is it a lost ball if you hit slightly early and hit the trees just off the left of the tee?

I hit a couple mm early and pulled the ball into those trees and it dropped down into the rough, clearly still on the mini map, but i got a lost ball and was sent back to the tee.

Going back to the tee may not be the worst thing, but why exactly to they take your ball? Is that marked OB on the real course.

What counts is the location of the ball the software calculate.

What is displayed cannot have the same level of accuracy, so while it may still have shown on the mini-map the software obviously calculated it was OB.

OB on WGT most often just means the ball came to rest outside the virtual world for that hole, not that that course has OB there.
