Anyone's input of the usage with the

WGT Virtual Callaway Big Bertha 3 Wood (L89+),

[245 yds but 2.5 forgv. yet spin 1.5]

    ---

    WGT Virtual Callaway XHot2 3 Wood (L73+),

[higher forgv at 4 but diff. traj. at med/high]

    ---

    TaylorMade R11S 3 Wood (L95+)

[fastest meter of the 3 at 3 rating]

    ---

edit: I'm still with my g20 3w (81), great value. With starters the meter may be a little quick near the ding, but nothing I couldn't get used to, and the wind has some play as usual but totally reliable.

The Callaway XHot2 3 metal (L73+) is a solid club.

I use the Starter ball 99% of the time and rarely do I miss the 'ding' by more than a hair's-width with this club.

    Precision and  forgiveness are good.

The lower trajectory lessens the affect of wind on shots.

Driving with it is as easy as with the wonderful SLDR driver, and low-wind distance versus hitting the club off the fairway is typically 15-20 yards longer.

I'm not crazy enough to expect 3 metal shots with the Starter ball to stop on a dime; however, the Callaway XHot2 3 Wood isn't bad in this respect. Given the lower trajectory than other 3 metals, this surprised me.

One caveat: My guess is for legends hitting from the back tees, a higher trajectory would be preferable, making the Callaway XHot2 3 metal (L73+) inadequate for those players hunting eagles.

I'm at level 84, so have no experience with the other 3 metals you mentioned.

Hope this info is helpful, JFidanza.

It is the most unforgiving club I've used in a long, long time - and by no small margin.  If you miss ding (fortuntely the meter isn't too bad), you're in for a nasty approach.

i disagree with this^^^^^ i had it till i got the r11's and liked it alot more the the standard r11 and the g20

i got the BB also if u want to see missing the ding punish ya try it out lmao

500 more Doritos commercials and I can take you up on that.  Do you know how many times I had to watch some valet kid drive a human banana around to get my Nike FWD?

Here is why the BB wins:

Yes, I just reached Merion #4 in two (from the TM tees with a tailwind, but still). That's a 269 yard carry and 289 rollout. Try that with the Max Meter and let me know how it goes.

Yea, the BB is carried by many of the top players, and for good reason.

That's why it's a likely choice as players move from drivers like my old G20 (270yd) and 3W (240yd) to something like the R1 (287yd) plus the BB (245yd) coupled w/ anything above a starter ball w/ the distance rating dots at about 2% or more per dot. (someone's tests showed his 2 dot ball was getting 4%-6%)

...so you're adding something like 17+5 = 22 yds, plus the percentage of your ball rating e.g. 6%-10%+ more distance to your drives, and a little for your approaches, it's common to see over 3 dozen more yards than the PINGs and starters on drives alone, plus the control of the added spin and slower meter.

Nice replay there, over the hazards!

I'm liking the BB w/ that little bit more spin rating than any other that I've browsed. Get one sooner than later, I'm thinking, to break it in and get used to how she handles.

With L61 Nike balls (4.5 dots of distance), I play the BB as 248 yards with full spin from the fairway and 250-252 from the tee. If it's not straight downwind, it usually takes just one or two hops before it stops. With no spin, I play it 265-270ish, which matches pretty well with your 2% theory of dots. 109% of 245 is 267.

The shot above was with about half spin. I don't think it would have cleared the bunkers with no spin, but I haven't determined the exact carry distances for half or no spin.

Thanks for the info, I will take notes, and can you be specific about the type of spin. As players know a top spin can make to ball roll forward etc, but also with BS the traj. might be changed higher and the ball spends more time in the air so a big tailwind will carry more. (yet, natch, the ball w/ BS can roll backwards, generally etc)

I'm not the expert but I'm still learning about spin, wind,  traj. and proshop balls. I take notes and store them.

I haven't found a use for topspin with the 3w even upwind. All my 3w shots are with spin neutral (center), 3/4 (halfway from the middle to the bottom), or full. As far as I can tell, increasing spin does not cause the 3w to get more total distance, but I haven't done a complete set of experiments with small amounts of spin.

I play wind with a 1.1x multiplier. That is, into a 10mph wind, I add 11 yards, and the reverse for a tailwind. Of course the slope of the landing area always plays a factor. For other clubs, I pretty much follow the chart on chrisironsbones's profile.
