If this is to  make the game  for us better ,  and to politely  tell WGT a way to make it better  I am in ..............................    But for iron shot  .................well... so many time when i started all the way to Master   I was confused on a shot to make...........   then I would look at the stick the game gave me.... example (the shot is 169  yrds  to the hole up hill ......so not sure and   confuse  I took  a chance played 180 stick the game gave me ......and made it close to the hole  on many occasions ......  I think  for the new comer  it is a way to used what the caddy gives them to learn  what we know ......   for us  more experience  players   we know to double check  the caddy ..........But I myself  forget to double check if the caddy is  on the  same team :)   I  Hope I was understood .    Frapp

Why is this thread continuing?  BinB already pointed out WGT is planning to add the option to turn off the caddy!

They are planning to add that feature/option

Here's the statement by WGTdbloshoe on Feb 19th:

    WGTdbloshoe:

The disabling of the Caddie has been discussed and it has been agreed upon that the feature should be added.  So what this means is everyone agrees with all of you and in the future you will all have the option.  Hopefully it will be sooner rather then later.

    BolloxInBruges:

They are planning to add that feature/option.  Myself personally I am fine with the current caddy system.  Would rather deal with changing clubs/shot type 50% of the time rather than 100% of the time if the caddy were completely turned off.  Can't remember the last time I hit the wrong club because I always double check before pulling the trigger making it a non-issue.

Edit - Do you really want to spend 2-3 seconds each drive selecting a driver, then selecting a full shot on every par 4/5.  Or selecting a putter, then 15 ft meter on every 1 foot putt?  Having no caddy would drive me completely insane wasting that much time.

This^ is something I try to bring up every time we see a caddy thread like this. Hitting the wrong club is the players fault anyway. With no caddie at all, we'd have to choose a club and shot type for every single shot. Cleaning up pars having to choose the putter and scale alone would drive me nuts as well. I like to play fast and for the most part, the caddie can keep up.

Having said all that, I agree it should be able to be turned off. Once that happens many players will see the value in having it on like they never thought of before.

I think the point about players seeing the value in it once it is off is relevant, but misses the real hard issue that it should just be fixed to be an aid.

Having the option to turn it off is just a resignation that WGT is not going to get this right.  Each to their own but overall the "off" option is the lesser of nothing two evils, nothing ideal.   I took that part as a gimme?

Now if they do surprise many by at least (as pointed out by others) getting say the driver deleted as a recommendation at say Beth 3 when there is a 15MPH up ya ar$e, and putter scales returning after chip mode, great, I hope they do.

Heck ideally this game would utilise some latest recognition software and would start recommending based on experience.  E,G. Pitch close, enter that up and get to another hole the caddie would say full shot x spin / power, pitch at this, flop at this etc.....(fully interactive).  As it is there is no general notes section anyway in the provided virtual sub standard note book they flog for $5 a pop.  I also fully accept some of that interactive stuff is Utopia, but where we are is way below what is possible also.

No offense any one but I had taken it as a gimme that turning it off is a compromise way away from ideal that's all.

The real issue is that the caddie is not good, and one day hopefully will be a fun by being fully interactive, based on experience same as IRL in many ways.  Some degree of interactivity is possible, but just not being the dunce of the class is all we are possibly aiming for now I suspect.

With all else that needs fixing round here I would sooner they just give the option to turn it off for now at least, whilst they address all that.  Get all the rest of what needs fixing right, and yeah begin with a caddie that knows a driver is an unusual offering for a 240 yard par 3 for sure for starters.

WGT know their resources best, and so the "off option" is a pragmatic, in the meantime to getting it work right, approach for how I see it.  Way away from ideal, just what I perceive as a quick interim band aid plaster whilst they work on very pressing issues.

If the off option takes up time don't even bother with that, just get the pressing issues fixed first as it's only an interim fudge IMO anyway as said.

Feedback as to what they intend would be nice, but..........
