fatdan: .basically starting from scratch today, putt speed calculation I was using and was perfect speed now runs 6 ft past cup on a 8 ft putt...so I drop the multiplier(.7) to .6 and it comes up just short {{{{WTF}}}}}....change to .65 and it runs by 4 ft.....LOL
Yep, lol, I know the feeling. Back to the chalk board I go..... Maybe the following will help someone. It helped me.
find a fairly flat putt, with enough distance to hit your lowest putter scale full power allowing some extra distance since we know it will roll longer than rated distance.
Then just do the math to figure out how much extra it went.
example: 15 foot putter scale
full power, say it goes 22 feet. 15x=22 (x) being the number we are looking for.
divide both sides by 15, you get x=1.46 which would be the number to divide by if you like to divide. If you'd rather multiply, then divide 1 by the number you just calculated.. 1/1.46=.68 or 68% so you can multiply by .68
22/1.46=15.06
22 x .68= 14.96
I will do this with an uphill 0 inches as well as the return putt with downhill 0 inches.
If you can't find a flat putt long enough to hit full power, try to find one that will let you hit 50% power.
50% of 15 is 7.5 let's try the math with 50% of my 15 foot scale and see if it works out...
7.5 x 1.46=10.95
10.95 x .68= 7.446
this of course is all with numbers off the top of my head. I would do this math during a solo round. Would be nice to have champ speeds in practice to utilize the mulligans.
Tried to explain it as best as I could, and surely hope it is correct lol. Hope it helps someone.
It could work with putter pal or any home made putter pal too. If you know how far each putter scale went at 100% power, then just use that at the scale.
So, using the 22 feet that my 15 foot putter scale went.
50% of 22 feet is 11 feet. If I had an 11 foot putt, I could just hit my 15 foot putter 50% power.
If I had a 13 foot putt, I would just divide 13 by 22 which = .590909...
.59 really is just 59% .59 x 100= 59%
I fear this may be too long and perhaps seem too simple, but it may help someone. I think some may not understand how the putter pal really works.
*edit
For those that read all or that rambling, here is a putt replay based on what I said above.
This putt was 52 feet downhill 1 inch on Tournament 12 greens. I went with the .68 just for sharts and giggles.
I used my 60 foot putter scale
(52-1) x .68= 34.68 feet. 34.68 divided by 60= .578 so I used approx 58%
here is the replay if you want to see.
